About Marissa

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay is physical and fundamental. The focus has been to be a multi-tool player. I like to use good footwork and physicality down low to take advantage of the post opportunities on offense. The focus has been on shooting efficiency from the outside which has made me more versatile. The ability to box out and communicate makes my defense one of my stronger assets.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm not flashy player or personality but I'm not afraid to communicate on the floor. I like to lead by example. Do the little things right and the rest will take care of itself. I take pride in being coachable and the ability to listen to my coaches .

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

On and off the court, I have found a way to be a leader by my actions and not my words. Less talking, more "doing". I've learned how open my mouth and communicate which leads to helping my team. I believe that mastering both forms will help me not only in sports, but in life as well.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The most significant so far was getting injured in the last scrimmage before my freshman season. It was hard. As a freshman, the excitement of playing varsity was so close. It taught me to be patient and take care of your body. Again, do the little things right like exercises and listening to the medical staff allowed me to get back to help my team.

What type of college are you looking for?

What kind of college I'm looking for has not been determined at this time. Right now, I have an interest in studying Physical Therapy and playing basketball in college. Post college, I have an interest in being a Physical Therapist in the military.
