About Marley

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Very athletic, strength in defense, steals and taking on larger girls on the court. Aggressive on the boards, even though only 5’10.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Striving for growth every game. 3 sport varsity athlete that strives to get better every day knowing there is always room for growth. Very competitive and often will push to succeed because of the internal drive.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

As a freshman, 3 sport varsity athlete going to State in Soccer (awarded First team), Basketball (5A state champions) and Track (qualified in 3 track events, conference champions in relay, plus Most Outstanding Track Athlete for the team as a freshman).

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Always lead by example, encouraging my team, knowing and acknowledging there is a difference between and good shot and a great shot, and if that means feeding your team it will create success for everyone.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Playing varsity as a Freshman and given a different role was a challenge. But took that to be a growth opportunity so that I can be there for those that may be where I was someday.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would love a team atmosphere where I can fit in and be there for the long ball. Family is big to me. Commitment to family is big to me. I would love to help with getting my college paid for and that is my goal in playing college sport. Plus trying to leave a legacy wherever I go that I can be proud of.

Silverton sophomore Marley Wertz Marley Wertz Marley Wertz 5'10" | SG Silverton | 2027 State OR is a spunky hooper who attacks the lane, finishes strong at the rim, and crashes the boards. The 5-foot-10 guard runs the court, has a quick first step, and is a tenacious on-ball defender. Wertz received an Honorable Mention in the Mid-Willamette, the most competitive 5A conference in Oregon. She led the Lady Foxes in scoring in the 5A state tournament consolation game to help her team win Third Place and earn herself Player of the Game. Wertz jumped to No. 26 in the Prep Girls Hoops Oregon class of 2027 rankings.
