Although not a pure center being listed as a power forward, Mattie Beard Mattie Beard 6'0" | PF Coalfield | 2027 State TN at 6’0″ is versatile and can help her team at multiple positions on the court.
One of the main areas in which Beard helped Coalfield High School in her sophomore season was her three-point shooting ability. She is constantly lurking behind the arc and is good at finding gaps and lapses in the opponent’s defense to generate good shot attempts from deep.
Two other abilities she brings to the table are her movement and versatility on the defensive end. As she is capable of playing multiple positions on offense, she is also capable of guarding multiple positions on defense. Also, Beard brings some playmaking ability to the floor every time she steps on the court.

Good positional size and a weapon from beyond the arc. Looked best in catch and shoot situations, especially in the corner. But can also use a dribble or two to relocate after a close out. To prove her shooting bonafides, even got the shooters’ roll on a late three pointer that kept her Flight squad with a comfortable margin.

If the college coaches are out extending offers, Beard has to be one of them. She continues to show why she is one of the best stretch 4’s in the state! I love her ability to shoot the long ball. However, I love how she sees the floor even more. Mattie’s passing and playmaking ability should definitely be recognized! Whether she’s shooting 5-7 from long range, or making the correct pass, she continues to show why she is a next level athlete!

a 6ft stretch forward who is a playmaker. She can bang around the blocks if need be, but her ability to face up and shoot over the top is crazy good. Knock down 3s, swish. High post in the middle of the zone, swish. Drop step here, jab and pop there. This kid can score the basketball and then some. She is selfless and sees the floor well, making timely passes to open teammates for shot attempts. She rebounds with a vengeance and is great in trail ball and transition settings. Solid prospect who is going to continue to shoot up the charts.

She was feeling it as she was shooting it with confidence. She went 4/9 from the arc and finished 50% from the inside. She finished with 5 rebounds and played solid defense throughout the course of the game. This kid is a consistent scoring threat, and look for her to have similar numbersin the next round.

Coalfield does not win it’s first district title since 2002 without Mattie Beard Mattie Beard 6'0" | PF Coalfield | 2027 State TN ! I’ve watched Mattie play numerous times now, and I do believe she is one of the best stretch forwards in her class! She’s a versatile athlete that you can plug in numerous places. She does a great job knocking down outside shots. Beard is an exceptional passer that finds open teammates. She provided her team extra possessions numerous times this season by getting offensive rebounds! She’s the 6 footer that you want on your team at the next level.

Confident two way player who transferred into Coalfield and will provide a spark for this ball club. She’s solid on both ends of the floor. Defensively, she is going to be in position to create turnovers. She can sit down and guard, get deflections, and contribute on the boards. Offensively, she is a sharpshooter from the arc. When her feet are set, she’s deadly from the outside. Has the ability to put it on the floor and finish, however, when her team needs a bucket, they dial her number up. Mattie is a solid pickup for this basketball club and will help them make a run towards state contention.

Playing with Elevate Elite 3SSB 15U, Mattie Beard Mattie Beard 6'0" | PF Coalfield | 2027 State TN is proving that she’s one of the best young defenders in the state. The kid had 9 rebounds and 4 blocks last night. It’s just obvious that she has a passion for defending….and show me a kid that WANTS to be a great defender, and I’ll likely show you one. Her offensive game is coming along, and the people at Grace must be excited.
