“She just wants to out-motor you.” That quote from Coach Angie Sun sums up Turner perfectly. This is another player who has just grown exponentially since I first saw her a year ago — and she was nice back then, too. For starters, she contributed heavily to a 1A state championship-winning team as a freshman, playing alongside her older twin sisters Kaylee and Keslynn Turner Keslynn Turner 5'7" | PG/SG North Clackamas Christian | 2027 State OR . She has returned from that experience with ten times the tenacity and fearlessness she had before — both traits all three Turner sisters share. It doesn’t matter if Melia has to go around or through you; she is getting to that rim. She also has a high IQ, fights hard on defense, and knocks down open shots without forcing bad ones. She is extremely reliable, which is something you can’t say about every underclassman. I look forward to the Turners’ final ride as a trio at NCCS, and they are the heavy favorites to repeat as champs — not to mention, they’re getting another budding star sophomore in Country Christian transfer Adelynn Smith Adelynn Smith 5'8" | PG/SG North Clackamas Christian | 2029 State OR .

Five-foot-8 guard Melia Turner Melia Turner 5'8" | SG/PG North Clackamas Christian | 2029 State OR ran with Northwest Select 14U over the summer and was one of the team’s best off-ball defenders, hunting passes and pressuring passing lanes. She’s a hard worker on and off the court. At the 3×3 Hoop League, Turner was aggressive on defense and showed her ability to attack the rim. She consistently found the lane and got to the bucket. She finished a contested layup through contact. She had quick feet to stay in front of her opponent and beat them to the spot. She rebounded and pushed the pace, quickly getting to the perimeter on the bounce to catch her opponent off guard. Turner will join her sisters Keslyn and Kaylee Turner Kaylee Turner 6'0" | PG/SG North Clackamas Christian | 2027 State OR at North Clackamas Christian. The Saints should be a 1A state title contender this year.
