While she was not overly aggressive looking for her own shots, she impacted the game in several other ways through defense, hustle plays, rebounds, and passing. Sanchez was especially impressive defensively, showing the ability to pressure the ball on the perimeter while also creating problems in the passing lanes. Offensively, she displayed good court awareness and often looked to create opportunities for teammates, but when she chose to shoot, she showed she could knock down perimeter shots, including a couple of nice three-pointers. Her tough-nosed style, defensive intensity, and willingness to do the little things made her one of the more effective hidden gems at the event.

Sanchez chases down loose balls, gets the rebound, makes the extra pass, and gives her team extra possessions through sheer effort. It’s not uncommon to see Sanchez defending the toughest player or switching to the toughest player and making the opposition work. Sanchez is the workhorse player whose impact cannot be measured on the scorecard. She instills confidence into her team – a team that made it to the final four last season.

Sanchez is a glue player for her team. She defended on the perimeter with energy, dove on the floor for loose balls, and made sure the offense ran smoothly. Her leadership and hustle made her the heart and soul of the team. Sanchez can also get to the rim and score with a clear lane. She is poised for a breakout season.

Sanchez brought the energy when she was on the floor. She forced jump balls, dove on the floor for loose balls, and drew fouls and got to the freethrow line. In addition to the hustle plays, she played some really good defense, making the potent Providence work for every shot. Sanchez will be a valuable player on the court. She doesn’t need to score 20, just stop her opponent from scoring 20. Sanchez is more than capable of putting the defensive clamps down.

Genesis Sanchez brought the energy and gives Tocoi Creek a young athletic guard who could cover some of the opponent’s top guards. Sanchez played some very good on-the-ball defense and she kept things uncomfortable against the opposing guards. Offensively, Sanchez can attack the rim. She rebounded well from the guard position, she passed well, and she got to the room and scored a few layups.
