Scotland may not have obtained the result it was seeking against host school 4A Wilson, but Thompson’s 23 points ensured the Scots matched the Tigers nearly point for point on Saturday evening. Thompson had 12 of her 23 in the first half. She was able to successfully navigate her way through Wilson defensive sets and finish strong at the rim. A large number of those occasions where she attacked the basket resulted in her drawing contact to get to the free throw line. Thirteen of her 23 points happened at the free throw line. Thompson will get herself in position to find rebounding opportunities, she knows how to get her teammates involved and is a skilled defender. The senior guard shares team captaincy duties for the Scots.

Morgan Thompson is a very shifty ball handler who uses her quick change of direction moves to get by her defender. She can get all the way to the basket using ball fakes, or she creates plays for her teammates hitting them right where they need the pass. Her on ball defense is sure to come up with steals as she can easily pick the pocket of her opponents getting too comfortable around her.

Morgan Thompson is an excellent ball handler who knows exactly how to create her own space to put up her shot. It’s not a surprise to see her score double digits in points as she has a nice shot from around the perimeter. She knows how to elevate her teammates, too, letting them fill their roles and feed them the ball.

Morgan Thompson had a floater over a post player showing she can score no matter who is in front of her. She makes nice adjustments on fast breaks to score her points. It seemed like no one could stop her floater game. She stripped the ball from her opponents when playing defense. She pushed the tempo, and she knew when to settle down, make a move, and score some points like showing off a nice spin move in transition.

She knocks down shots from deep with ease, and she gets lost by defenders to be able to catch and shoot.
