About Mya

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play the game with passion and energy every time I step on the court. My style is all about being a team player, hustling on both ends, and competing until the last second. I love attacking the basket and finishing strong, and I’m always ready to block anything that comes my way. I don’t try to be flashy, but when the opportunity is there, I make sure to dominate.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is competitive and team-first, always putting in maximum effort to help my team succeed. I stay focused, think through the game as it happens, and pride myself on hustling hard on defense to make stops and create opportunities.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, I am involved in my school band, where I play the trumpet. I have been playing since the 6th grade.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through basketball, I’ve developed strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to encourage others. I hold myself accountable, even when I make mistakes or feel down, because I know growth comes from pushing through challenges. Volunteering, especially during the holidays, humbles me and reminds me how much even small actions can help others in need.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Being a military child and moving frequently. Each move means starting over, making new friends, fitting in, proving yourself, all of which can be difficult, especially as I get older. I’ve learned to stay true to myself, give my best, and accept that it’s okay to make mistakes. These experiences have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of perseverance.

What type of college are you looking for?

Right now, I’m still in research mode. Overall, I want a college that will allow me to further my education and explore my interests. I’m still deciding on a specific path and have been researching different options. My goals and interests have evolved over the years, so I’m taking the time to find the best fit for me.
