About Mya
Expert Analysis

Turner enters June as one of the more underrated perimeter scorers in northern Indiana. The Fremont shooting guard has steadily developed into a player capable of impacting games in multiple ways, particularly with her ability to stretch defenses and create offensive opportunities.
Her shooting ability remains her biggest weapon. Turner consistently demonstrates confidence from the perimeter and has the mechanics coaches want to see from a developing college prospect. She moves well without the basketball, understands spacing, and knows how to find open windows for scoring opportunities. What has helped elevate her game recently is her willingness to attack off the bounce. Rather than relying solely on jump shots, Turner has become more effective putting pressure on defenders and creating advantages for herself and teammates.
Defensively, she competes with energy and brings a high basketball IQ to every possession. Her understanding of team concepts allows her to contribute beyond the box score. Heading into June, Turner is a player who could attract increased interest from small-college programs looking for perimeter shooting and offensive versatility.

Mya seems to be playing with a little different confidence this Spring versus any time I’ve seen her in the past. She has always been a long athlete, but now, she is doing many more things consistently and has worked on her skillset. She’s handling the ball better, but more importantly, she’s handling pressure and contact better. She is showing a little more touch outside, but she’s also making better decisions as to when to shoot, attack, or give it up. She has also typically been an outstanding defender, and that hasn’t changed at all.

CLASS 1A WILDCARD: I chose Mya to fill this category, because the Lady Eagles are going to need everyone to step up, and she’s the next option after Scharlach (above) who has a chance at scoring 30 points or pulling in 15 rebounds. She is extremely long & wiry, fluid, and she continues to improve with age. She can get downhill or hit shots from the perimeter, plus I think she’ll be able to take on either Wheeler or Rarick (above) defensively by herself. I think Mya could have as much value defensively as offensively by limiting one of those Lady Braves on the scoreboard.

Mya is another prospect I have seen since she was in middle school. This year she looks noticeably stronger, maybe even a little taller, and she’s much more aggressive off the bounce. She is so long, wiry, and fluidly athletic/smooth. Mya can handle the ball, get to the basket, and finish, but she’s also an improving perimeter shooter. I look for her to have a breakout Spring and carry that over into her 2025-2026 high school season. Keep an eye on her this Spring!

She finishes hard at the rim and takes off on transition plays when she can. Mya is quite long, and has quickness and speed. Although she can make an open jump shot, she’s very good at splitting thorough the gaps of the defense to score at the rim. She effectively manipulates passing lanes and creates deflections and steals with her length and speed when playing defense. She can guard on and off the ball very well.
