enters the summer as one of the top floor generals in her region. The Fremont point guard serves as the leader of the offense and brings the type of basketball IQ that every coach values.
Scharlach’s ability to control pace and make sound decisions separates her from many players at the position. She understands how to get teammates involved while also recognizing when she needs to take over offensively. Her ball-handling and court vision allow her to create opportunities that don’t always show up in the box score.
Beyond her offensive contributions, Scharlach competes defensively and provides valuable leadership. As June basketball begins, she will be responsible for helping Fremont maintain composure against strong competition. Her ability to orchestrate the offense and lead by example makes her one of the most important players in this ranking range.

Grace has assembled a fantastic career thus far for Fremont, but the 2025-2026 season produced a Class 1A State Finals appearance for the Eagles. I really like how she plays low and compact, she gets downhill North/South fairly easily, and she draws a lot of contact getting to the basket. She also has a solid mid-range pull-up, and she can make shots with some range as well. Because of her ability to both facilitate and score the ball at a high level, she should draw a great deal of elite small college interest, and she strikes me as a potential all-conference college performer in the future.

Grace has been a fun watch throughout her career, and to some degree, it’s bittersweet she has just one more year left of high school ball. She plays with so much energy and determination, she has learned how to communicate much better, both on and off the floor, plus she continues to improve her skill. She has always been a talented multilevel scorer, but her shot selection continues to improve, as do her shooting percentages. She’s also defending with more urgency and not just attempting for steals. She had one standout game Saturday and has been solid all weekend.

Offense was tough to come by for Grace and the Lady Eagles of Fremont High School Saturday morning. While they finished as runners-up, it was an outstanding season, the best ever, in the history of the Lady Eagle program. Grace did what she could against Borden’s height and length defensively. Through it all, she managed 10 of the team’s 31 points, plus she added 3 rebounds, an assist, and a steal in the 51-31 defeat. Look for Grace and her teammates to fight to get back here again next season.

Obviously, we’ve mentioned Grace a lot over the past couple of weeks, and rightfully so. She is a tremendous player, especially for Class 1A. On the season, however, she has helped lead Fremont to their best season in girls’ basketball history, including a 28-2 record before Saturday’s game, plus their first Semi-State title and State Finals appearance. The explosive guard is averaging 20.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 3.1 steals per game. If she can continue to make her mark against Borden in the Class 1A game, she should be a frontrunner for the Class 1A MVP award.

Grace will likely be one of the most entertaining players you will see throughout the day’s action. She is quick, fast, and explosive, she can get downhill and put a ton of pressure on a defense, but she can also consistently bury shots from the perimeter. Defensively, she can get out and pressure the ball, plus she’s strong enough to knock someone off their line and keep them out of the paint. My only concern for her Saturday is Borden’s length & size, but she has played against bigger kids her whole life, especially during the Spring & Summer grassroots seasons.
