Nalaya made one of the biggest leaps in our rankings, and she did so by consistently performing at a high level in front of our scouts this summer. Her fiercely competitive demeanor, explosive athleticism, high energy, and relentless defense separate her from the pack. Nalaya played up with West Michigan Drive 17U and was a defensive stopper at the Smoke. She continued to shine at the Big North Shootout for Big Rapids. Nalaya created easy buckets for teammates with her dump-off passes, slashed by defenders to score off the dribble, knocked down triples, and wreaked havoc on defense.

Nalaya was ready to compete right from the opening tip, and she started the day strong for Big Rapids at the Big North Shootout. One of Nalaya’s strengths was her ability to beat her defender off the dribble and dish great dump-off passes once the help arrived, resulting in many wide-open looks for teammates. Nalaya exuded confidence and passion on the floor–high energy. She moved her feet quickly to stop drives and created many steals with her on-ball pressure. Nalaya secured offensive rebounds, buried free throws, and took steals the other way for layups.

Nalaya made a big impression on me at the Drive training camp. She is an athletic guard who can score. She uses her quickness to get past defenders and makes good decisions when attacking. She had a significant perimeter block on Sunday. This winter, she will help lead a very young Big Rapids squad.
