The Overton Eagles got a convincing win in their First Round matchup on Wednesday against Paxton High School thanks to some halftime adjustments. At half the score was tied 15-15 but as soon as the third quarter tipped off, it was a much different story. The Eagles came out on fire and flat out dominated. They won the second half 36-12 and that basically tells the tail of this one. The most sound and efficient player for the Eagles was Forward, Natalie Wood Natalie Wood 5'9" | C Overton | 2024 NE . Wood shot over 50% from the field, while scoring 15 Points and  grabbing 21 Rebounds. You saw that correctly. She had an eye opening double-double to say the least. When the end of this week comes and we cover the best performances from this State Tournament. This one is going to be in that conversation. Wood has size, athleticism, and skill but this stat line is still pretty incredible on a State Floor.

Natalie Wood Natalie Wood 5'9" | C Overton | 2024 NE and her Overton Eagles team recorded a victory on Friday night by a final score of 58-57 against The Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs. In this contest, Wood’s recorded an important 12 points (6-11), 13 Rebounds, 1 Assist, and 1 Block. In a contest that was decide by 1 point, you can see as to why Wood’s double-double was vital to her team’s success. She may not have led her team in scoring or anything like that but she was easily her team’s most efficient player from start to finish. She was handling her own matchup at a consistent rate, all while making sure that the others around her were doing the jobs that they were suppose to. The Eagles are currently sitting at 22-1 throughout their 23 games this winter. If they are going to continue on this memorable season,  Wood’s is going to have to keep up this production. She is averaging a double-double on the season at 11 PPG – 10.7 RPG and that says it all.

The Overton Eagles have started off this season with a nice stretch. One of their main contributors has been their presence in the paint, Natalie Wood Natalie Wood 5'9" | C Overton | 2024 NE . Wood, a 5’10 Forward, is hard-worker on both sides of the ball and her stat lines this season have reflected that. Throughout her teams first 16 games, Woods is averaging 10 PPG and 9.2 RPG while relentlessly working. She does a thorough job of keeping her moves simple and right to the point, usually correlating into an easy bucket near the rim. I hope this team can keep on this run they are on. If players like Woods keep holding their own, they are going to be a tough group to stop moving forward. Especially when they are playing for one another.
