Vellema is a skilled and composed guard who impacts the game in multiple ways. Built on a strong base, she handles the ball with confidence and shows the ability to create her own shot. Her catch-and-shoot three appears to be a weapon, highlighted by a smooth release and high arc, and she’s not hesitant to let it fly when open. Nya also flashes creativity off the dribble, using space-creating moves to forge opportunities to shoot. She plays unselfishly, moves the ball well, and competes from start to finish. Defensively, Nya’s active hands generate deflections and steals, adding another layer to her game.

Another shooter and player who works her tail off! She hit a sick revers layup in transition proving she can finish at the rim. Nya isn’t afraid to use her left hand to finish and plays very unselfish basketball.

Nya is a very solid point guard with great ball handling skills. She moves well and has a good base. She has a lot of room to grow and gain strength as she progresses throughout high school. She has exceptional hands defensively, always poking the ball away and getting deflections or steals.
