Sometimes you have to do what is best for you and switch some things up. Rease Murtaugh Rease Murtaugh 5'8" | PG Papillionla Vista | 2025 State NE of PLV High School knows about this first-hand. Earlier this week Murtaugh announced that she is flipping her commitment from D2 – William Jewell to D2 – Sioux Falls. With this change, Murtaugh will join up with a talented Class at the next level. A Class that is sure to make an impact in more ways than one. One of the most consistent and best producing recruits out of the 2025 Class this Winter was Murtaugh. I expect her play-style at the guard position to translate to the next level. She competes with a lot of heart and that is going to be prevalent when she steps on the collegiate floor.

Rease Murtaugh Rease Murtaugh 5'8" | PG Papillionla Vista | 2025 State NE averaged over 23 PPG this Winter for her PLV High School team, demonstrating that she is going to be someone that might see the floor right away at the next level. Murtaugh is a go-getter, someone that plays with a positive attitude, and she is someone that wants to compete in all facets of the game. If you want to see the floor at the D2 level, you need all of these intangibles on your side and Murtaugh has that. This Winter she has shown that she is an enforcer in every definition of the phrase. As long as she continues to keeps that attitude, she will always be someone that is considered a tough competitor.

Rease Murtaugh Rease Murtaugh 5'8" | PG Papillionla Vista | 2025 State NE has been someone that we have talked about for a few years now because of her ability to score at a high rate, while being a better than average defender. Murtaugh, a Jewel Women’s Basketball commit, has hit the ground running this winter for her Senior season. As of most recent, she recored a career high 36 point outburst in her efforts to help her team secure another W. (Which they did.) With the motor and mental game that Murtaugh has, I think she will see the floor early on in college. If she does and plays to her full abilities, it’ll be tough to pull her out of the game in most situations but only time will tell how that will play out. For now, I’m sure she will continue with this current momentum.

Rease Murtaugh Rease Murtaugh 5'8" | PG Papillionla Vista | 2025 State NE is a fast moving, quick acting, agile prospect that is ready to finish out her high school career on a high note. Murtaugh demonstrates some natural instants, a willingness to learn, and solid skill when she is playing at her best. She has been the undoubtable leader for the Papillion-LaVista team for the past couple of years and that isn’t going to change moving into her Senior season. This team really goes as far as Murtaugh can take them in a sense, when it all boils down at the end of the day.

Rease Murtaugh Rease Murtaugh 5'8" | PG Papillionla Vista | 2025 State NE of PLV High School and the Nebraska Attack is going to have a chance to compete at the next level when her high school career finishes out but I’m not quite sure as to where just yet. Murtaugh is a quick acting, fast moving, and smart thinking Point Guard. She controls the tempo of the game with her ability to change her speeds in the blink of an eye and when you mix that with her skilled ability, you get a handful to deal with as a defender. Murtaugh is another player who will have a chance to show off what she can do, helping her future recruitment over this next month. If she does her thing, she should have a college coach or three reaching out to her about taking some visits this Fall, if thats ultimately the route she wants to go.

A prospect that displayed an experienced game this previous high school season was Reese Murtaugh of PLV High School. Murtaugh is a high energy, high motor player, that is very good at running her team’s offense. She is an offensive threat in her own right but I think she is at her best when she is passing to an open teammate and cutting off of that pass. This Winter she committed to compete with D2 – Jewell University once her high school career comes to an end and I can’t wait to see how she fair’s in that program. They run a style that is based on being in shape and getting down the floor in a hurry, two boxes that Murtaugh checks off when it comes to her evaluation. She constantly displays that she is good at getting the ball off of a rebound and pushing it down the floor in the open court. If she can continue to do that, while feeding her teammates and finding holes in the defense for herself at a steady rate, she will thrive with any program she is lacing up with. No doubt about it.

Rease Murtaugh Rease Murtaugh 5'8" | PG Papillionla Vista | 2025 State NE puts up impressive numbers for whatever team she is lacing up with, wether that be at the high school level or at the travel level. When she takes the floor, the opposing team needs to tag her as someone who can change the outcome of a game in a hurry because of her out-put. When breaking down Murtaugh’s game, the best way to describe it is quick and efficient. She does a good job of making the right choices whenever the ball is rotated to her, leading to a lot of success for herself and everyone else around her. Offensively, she can do a lot of positive things but her best ability is to shoot the ball. Whenever she lets it go from deep with some space, it looks like it’s going in. Defensively, she holds her own. She has good knowledge of when to go for a steal compared to when she should sit back and let the offense bring the ball to her. To start this season, Murtaugh is leading her high school team by example. As long as she can continue to be productive, this team will continue to find success.

Reese Murtaugh is a college level basketball player and you can’t tell me otherwise. Murtaugh is a quick and smart point guard that can really do it all at her position. She passes well off of the dribble with either hand, she can score from all three levels in the blink of an eye, she is VERY good at change of pace and direction when attacking her defenders in the open court, she rebounds over alike size players, and she can pick up in the full court and stay with her opponent for an entire contest. Murtaugh was also in the debate of being in the 2025 Class – Top 10, in this Update. If she has a productive start to the upcoming high school season, she will break onto that list at the next Update in December, no doubt about it.
