With the offense stuck in the mud in the second half, Carey provided a spark. It started with a triple, which opened up the driving lanes for a pair of tough finishes. Had 14 points, tying for a team high. She’s had an outstanding junior campaign. A offensive and defensive mainstay, she was a big part of getting Millwood back on the big stage that they belong on.

Carey was a defensive specialist, who starred in her role for Team Unity during AAU season. This winter, she’ll be called upon to lead the way for a new look Lady Falcons team. Carey can set the tone with her outstanding energy on both ends of the court. She’s smart on offense as an off the ball player, but it will be exciting to see how she adapts her game as a top option.

It’s a new era for Millwood basketball as a sleeper team in Class 3A. Spearheading their potential charge is Carey, one of the top defenders in the state. She’s quick as an on the ball or off the ball defender, with great attention to detail. Expect her to be one of the top havoc causers in Oklahoma, with plenty of 3+ steals games to her credit this winter. Offensively, she’s an unselfish player who makes good passes. While also scoring in the flow of the offense when she played with her summer team, Unity. Carey plays with fantastic energy and it should be contagious for her Lady Falcons teammates.

One of the top defenders in the class, Carey is an example of doing the little things to add up to a big impact. She’s tough on defense. From working hard off the ball to deny passes, to making life tough for opposing ball handlers. All while racking up plenty of steals. Good secondary scoring on offense. Will knock down open looks for three, cut to the basket. And of course run the floor hard for transition points.

The ball finds energy and for Carey’s case, that saying applies to both ends of the court. Plays strong denial defense and in the passing lanes, leading to deflections and steals. Runs the floor equally hard for transition points. Even can hit open threes. Does a lot of little things, that quickly adds up to a big impact. Like the complete and team first mindset that was apparent in the rising sophomore’s game.
