Gross is another player who I have watched to take her game to another level after starting as basically a back-to-the-basket decoy, to being able to score however she wants while being defended. Her mid to long-range really took off over the club season, but seeing her use a deceptive first step to take defenders off the dribble has been equally impressive. She does a good job rebounding on both ends, plays solid defense nad has good court vision

Gross is another player who has transformed from primarily a back-to-the-basket decoy, to a legitimate scoring threat in the paint, but peep this, the transformation hasn’t stopped, as her midrange was clicking just about every time I saw her play see evaluations here

Gross has made tremendous strides and jumped 42 spots after catching her at a couple of Nike Houston Pro Skills tryouts. Here’s the deal, she stands above “the magic number” but the magic is she’s scoring more fluidly around the basket, hands and footwork have jumped and so has her midrange jumper. I also loved seeing her rebound, which she does on both ends, and handle the ball afterward but her interior defense as well as stepping outside the paint to defend has me thinking another big jump is coming

Gross is on the verge of breaking out largely this summer as she will be JEFFERSONIZED in the PGH Texas rankings, which means “Movin On Up”, Google the show. Yeah, she was a force around the basket scoring and showed desire going after the ball off the rim yet her midrange was clicking the whole event, as well as her defense yet seeing her diving for loose balls, in a TRYOUT, JUST DID IT for me

Gross turned a corner in high school this season when I saw her at the Lady Tiger Classic to help crank the season up see evaluation here yet I forsee her turning even more corners over the club season because not only is she going after everything off the rim, she’s understanding how to get the outlet going and running the floor. Another “hands and footwork” display to overpower defenders and score was nice

Gross pops onto the chart after mesmerizing me with her skillset earlier in the season during the PGH Dynasty Regional Kickoff last April when she made the All-Tournament squad see evaluation here yet at the Conroe Lady Tiger Classic she gave me another look see evaluation here The thing about it is that she moves well and can play multiple positions, on both ends so yeah, the upside will have her making a jump next time around

Gross showed me more athleticism as she sliced by defenders from the wing off the dribble to score yet watching her hit the boards and handle the ball afterward was also a plus. Peep this, she stands above “the magic number” and her scoring around the basket and dropping the midrange was nice, she also did a good job defensively

Gross is steadily elevating her game and when you factor in she stands above “the magic number” which is 6’0, her upside still hasn’t been tapped. I enjoyed watching her operate inside the paint, yeah the “hands and footwork” always gets me excited because it’s #THROWBACK and effective yet her scoring around the basket was one thing, the short jumper was another. She also put it on the floor and scored from the wing but her hitting the boards, on both ends and showing solid interior defense were all nice

Riley is a 4-5 combo that has great footwork and protects the paint. In the low post she keeps the ball high and off the floor using her body to protect the shot from getting blocked. Nice drop step and turn around move in the low post. Deadly shooter from the short corner area but will used a pump fake and dribble for a smooth jumper. Excellent block on the rebound assured that she was getting that board.

After being caught by her size, the next thing I noticed about Gross is that she understands how to post and re-post. With true post players evaporating in today’s game, it’s nice to see a young player that is learning how to work the paint. Gross may not get a touch every time down the floor, but what’s important is that she seals defenders and is constantly working off the ball. Leaving the paint, she will pop the short corner jumper. She has a nice high release. Once she works on getting off her feet and really shooting in the air she will be even more of a threat.
