competed with an aggressive edge this Winter for her Junior season and that was nice to see out of someone who has college level potential in her future. Fugate did everything she could this Winter without forcing any unneeded action. Offensively, she shot the ball well off the catch, she got to her spots for open looks off the dribble, she finished at the bucket with defenders around her, and she was selfless enough to hit her open teammates when those situations would unfold off of her creation into the teeth of the defense. Defensively, she held her own and matched up pretty well with whoever was placed in front of her. AAU ball is so much different than high school in Iowa but I think Fugate is ready to put together a successful Spring campaign this season. As long as she can speed up with the game like everyone else, she should be someone we hear about more and more as the AAU season goes on.

continues to grow in her game. Fugate, a 5’7 CG, is someone that competes with a lot of heart. She is coordinated as a handler of the basketball, she is a solid offensive threat, and she is scrappy on defense. What else would do you want?! When you combined that with her steady progression over the past two years, you start to see the promise moving forward. Fugate just received an NAIA offer out of Des Moines from Grand View. Which is a respectable offer for a prospect with this type of respectable skill.

of Martensdale-St.Marys High School. Fugate is labeled as a CG because of her ability to compete at the 1, 2, or 3 position for her high school team. On the AAU floor, I would have her more as a 1 or a 2 because of her height at 5’6. She isn’t undersized per se but bigger teams will understand to post her up immediately if they see that she is on a mismatch, so it’s better to avoid that if possible. Other than shooting and scoring, Fugate is able and willing in the passing game. She has a really nice first step to the hoop that usually fools an opponent and after that, she can choose which open teammate to hit for a good look at the hoop. From the first time I’ve seen this one until now, she has seemingly continued to get better with experience and time. If that trend continues, she should put together a very impressive Junior Winter in another eight months, following her upcoming AAU campaign.

and she is going to do all that she can over the next 2.5 years to put the team on her back, making them a tough opponent for anyone who might have to match up with them. Fugate is a CG, that competes more at the SG position from what I’ve seen. She is someone that has the green light to take whatever shot she deems necessary on the high school floor so as long as she plays efficient ball, things will go smoothly.

is a player who can run your offense and/or play off the ball and be one of your key offensive players. She has a team first mentality and will get the job done! Rylie sets great screens by creating contact, makes the right effective cuts, and keeps good spacing offensively. On the defensive side, she closes out to shooters under control, keeps players out of the middle, and does a great job on her box outs. Martinsdale-St. Mary’s has a freshman in their program who will help them win games this season. Keep an eye out for this player as she has a huge upside!

. Now in all honesty, I need to see Fugate play more and I plan too but from everything I have seen up to this point, she is someone that has some skill. Her size isn’t overwhelming at 5’6 but she shows glimpses of good moments on both sides of the floor throughout a contest. She has an above average handle, nice shooting stroke off of the catch, a high motor at the guard position, and a nice rebounding ability over guards that are alike to herself in size. All in all, this stuff could create a really good player overtime. Just like everyone else at this age, her progression over the next few years will be vital but at this point, she is in a good position moving forward.
