Expert Analysis
Jeremy Brooks | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
“Jaekel doesn’t kill you with flashy moves or a crazy ability per se. She more-so works really hard and she is successful because of that. Every time she has to make a play for her squad in a key moment, it seems like she understands the easiest way to go about it. With her size at 5’9 and her natural instincts, both physically and mentally, she makes for a really intriguing prospect but definitely someone that could produce in some facet at the collegiate level.”

is a gem from the class of 2025 who will make a college program very happy next year. She is an electric athlete with a lightning-quick first step who can get to the rim regardless of who is in front of her. In addition, she has a beautiful shot from deep as well as a nice midrange game. Her athleticism is on full display on the defensive end as well where she is a great on-ball defender and is constantly creating turnovers for her team.

I had the opportunity to watch Jaekel play in person in their game against Wilsonville last week. She is a true competitor with an unending motor who played until the very last whistle, despite the point-deficit. While running the point for the Kingsmen and causing all sorts of chaos as an elite defender, Jaekel is also a very gifted scorer, including her ability to shoot the rock from deep. Midway through the season, she is averaging a very impressive 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 4.0 steals per game.

On a Gladstone team that features a lot of older talent, Jaekel still found a way to shine in her sophomore season. She is one of those players who just looks like a natural basketball player out there, with a smooth shot that she knocks down both from the mid-range and from beyond the arc and with easy handles that are on full display in the advanced turnaround moves that she is capable of. Jaekel uses her length to cause deflections and she shows that her next-play awareness is on a high level when she always looks to put her teammates in good positions to succeed. Jaekel’s sophomore year saw her earn honorable mention all-conference in a loaded Tri-Valley Conference, and she finished strong with a second team all-tournament nod. As Jaekel continues to get older and learn from her gifted teammates, she will only get more impressive and fun to watch.
