has good length to match along with her skill-set. Dorrity competes mostly as a 4 coming down the floor at the Forward position. Offensively, she can post up with her size whenever she has a smaller defender paired to guard her or she can step out and attack from some distance away. She cleans up the boards and rebounds well on both ends while being someone that opposing teams have to worry about when they attack the lane. If not, it’ll end in a block, tip, deflection, or bad attempt at the bucket. We could see Dorrity at the next level. She does good things for her position and I’m sure she will continue to show her worth until she graduates.

is going to have a chance to take the State by storm within the 4A Class with the ample opportunity that she will have over the next few years. Dorrity, a 5’11 SF/CG, is coming off of a respectable AAU season with her North Tartan EYBL program out of Minnesota and she is ready to build on that. This is someone that can move between the 3, 4, and 5 spot right now, depending on the line up in front of her. She can either post up her matchup around her or she can work from 15Ft and in. She is coordinated enough to finish on either side of the bucket, while having coordination, a soft touch on the ball, good footwork, and a ton of heart. All in all, I’m excited to see what Dorrity could bring to the floor over the next few years but we will just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

this AAU season as she made the switch to North Tartan EYBL out of Minnesota but from what I have seen, it’s been a good season for the 4A State Champion. Dorrity was a crucial part to her high School team’s 4A State Title this past Winter and she has picked up right where she left off. Which is making big plays for her team, especially on defense. Dorrity has the ability to guard multiple spots because of her mixture of size and athletic prowess. She can switch onto most opponents in screening situations and she is always looking to come from help-side for a thunderous block or deflection. I get to see Dorrity again this weekend and I’m excited. If she plays her game, she should produce with several coaches and evaluators in the building.

made the move this AAU season to North Tartan EYBL and it’s seemingly going well. Dorrity is a focal point on her 15U EYBL team. She is a force that her team tries to get the ball to in favorable position near the paint. If she can catch within 5-7Ft of the bucket, it’s usually going to end up in a good attempt for the group with Dorrity’s natural height. Her versatile has also been top notch so far this Spring. She has been running the floor, positing when she can, or she can even step out to screen and roll. She is someone that is willing to step out and defend multiple positions on the three point line as well. As you can tell, Dorrity has a few options on the hardwood and North Tartan has done a respectable job of playing to those strengths.

was highlighted earlier this week as a Stock-Riser for this 2028 Class so we won’t go too in depth about her play style but to sum it up briefly; Dorrity was a vital piece to her CR – Xavier team’s 4A State Title run this past three months. She took the floor as a freshman at 5’11, she did what she was asked and they are reaping the benefits because of that. In 90% of places around Iowa, Dorrity is a Day1 starter at the Varsity level. At Xavier they are known for only starting upperclassman so that’s why Dorrity saw the court a little less than she should have. In this Update, she comes in at #9. A place that she should be proud of moving into this Spring AAU season.

CR – Xavier won the 4A State Title this Winter with experience, strategic play, senior leadership, and a high level of belief. A freshman that stepped up in multiple occasions this season was

at the SF/CG position. Dorrity played more of the 4 spot because of her natural height at 6’0 and her willingness to stay down low. Dorrity is a prospect that is very versatile so it’s not shocking that this was her position but during AAU season, she will definitely be able to show her diverse skill-set a little bit more. Her ability to attack her defender off the catch or dribble stands out and stuff like that will be on full display. In this Update Dorrity sits right inside the Top 10 at #9. She will be competing with a new AAU program in North Tartan EYBL out of Minnesota. If she does her thing, she is sure to catch the attention of anyone in the building for recruiting purposes.

Cedar Rapids Xavier got a 22 point victory on Tuesday evening over Cedar Rapids Kennedy at home. Throughout this game, several individuals stepped up for the Saints to help them finish things off. Someone from their underclassman group, that we have highlighted a few times this Winter up until this point is SF –

. Dorrity has length, a quick first step, a start head on her shoulders, and a willingness to mix it up with everyone and anyone physically near the hoop. In this specific battle, Dorrity recorded 14 Points on 6/7 shooting. Showing off her efficient play style from all over the court. This isn’t the first time or the last time we will hear about Dorrity. If she continues to grow her game in the off-season, she could come back as a Sophmore and be their top dawg before you know it.

As crazy as it sounds, Samantha Dorrity is going to be a major factor for her team’s success this Winter and moving into the near future. Dorrity has been performing at a high rate to start the season for the Saints and I’m hoping that she can build on that. She has displayed a fundamental play-style in the paint with a nice step through or countermove offensively. On defense, she is just long enough to impact a lot of shots near the paint whenever she is coming over from help-side. Xavier will have their main producers back once again from last season, therefore Dorrity is going to have to work to see the floor but I have faith that she will become a fan favorite for this Varsity program rather quickly over the next few months.

Samantha Dorrity would be a Day 1 starter at 90% of high schools in Iowa but I’m not sure if that will be the case for her at Xavier. Dorrity looks and plays the part of being a vital piece to whichever team she is competing with. Taking into consideration that she is only a 2028 prospect, she already stands at 5’11, and the skill part of her game is up-to-date with her size, you start to realize that her future possibilities will be high by the time that she gets to being an upperclassmen. During our event, Dorrity made her presence known in one way or another out on the court. She was either handling her matchup on the defensive end with ease or she was taking it to the rim for an easy bucket on offense, every chance she could get. All in all, she did a little bit of everything throughout the day and she stood out over most others while doing so.

There is still a lot of questions that need to be answer about Sam Dorrity and her play-style but I think it is obvious at this point that she will see the Varsity floor this Winter at Xavier and she will put up some big numbers while doing so. Dorrity seems more like a natural 3 but I’m sure she is going to be put in the 4 or 5 spot of the Saints offense. This coaching staff is very old school in the fact that they play mostly upperclassmen, so it’ll be interesting to see how Dorrity fits in that mix. If they use everyone on this roster in the right way, they are going to kill a lot of teams this upcoming season, leading them into the playoffs.
