Wheeler is a skilled, physical forward who can score from the paint, the mid-range and the perimeter. She uses her footwork to get position, finishes with either hand and has the touch to stretch the floor. She attacks mismatches off the dribble and sees passes from the post. She sets real screens and rebounds consistently, and her size and skill give the offense a lot of options.

Samantha does an excellent job establishing position down low and using her size advantage to back defenders down in the post. She plays with patience and composure, utilizing moves like pump fakes to keep defenders off balance before finishing. Defensively, she makes a major impact as a shot blocker and consistently protects the paint. She also stretches the floor well as a three-point shooter, confidently spotting up along the perimeter and knocking down open looks.
