About Santiana

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a high-energy guard known for my toughness, hustle, and leadership on the court. I’m a strong decision-maker who makes winning plays, shoots the three-ball with confidence, and consistently helps my team succeed on both ends of the floor. I also take pride in being a lockdown defender and rebounding well for my position.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I lead by example through effort, communication, and accountability, always putting the team first.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have strong leadership and teamwork skills built through communication, encouragement, and leading by example. As team captain at Phenix Middle School, Gildersleeve Middle School, and my Nike Jr. EYBL teams, I value accountability, consistency, and setting a positive example. Inspired by my parents’ volunteer work, I also believe in giving back to the community.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One challenge I’ve faced is adjusting to a new role on the court. As I have transitioned to the guard position, I am now working on becoming a floor general and mastering point guard skills. Learning to run an offense, handle pressure, and make quick decisions has pushed me to grow mentally and skill-wise. This experience has improved my versatility, basketball IQ, and confidence.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that values both academics and athletics, with strong programs in theater and the arts, while also offering the opportunity to compete at a high level on a basketball scholarship. I want an environment that supports my creative interests, challenges me academically, and allows me to continue developing as a student-athlete.
