About Sasha
Expert Analysis
Jon Orr | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Nickname: “Nightcrawler”
Overview:
Much like Nightcrawler of the X-Men, Hodge has a knack for showing up exactly where the play is about to happen. Defensively disruptive and constantly around the ball, she changes possessions in an instant.
Production:
A turnover creator who immediately converts defense into offense. Whether it’s steals, deflections, or jumping passing lanes, Hodge generates opportunities that flip momentum fast.
Skill Set:
Elite anticipation paired with a quick first step allows her to beat the ball to its destination. She reads plays before they develop, turning defensive instincts into fast-break points. Plays fast, reacts faster.
Projection:
Defensive playmakers who can create offense are invaluable. Hodge projects as a guard capable of changing games with her activity and instincts.
Why the Nickname Fits:
One of the coolest X-Men of all time is Nightcrawler.I’m not taking questions on that.
With the ability to teleport in and out of danger, Nightcrawler always shows up right on time. Hodge doesn’t teleport it just looks like she does.
One second the ball is safe…the next, it’s hers.

Hodges may have come across my radar late this season, but she wasted no time making an impression. Her skill set as a lead guard is undeniable — she handles pressure well, gets to the line, and has a knack for knocking down big shots. Teams that aren’t paying attention to her this summer are making a mistake. She’s poised for a breakout and the tools are already there.

Sasha is a guard who plays with poise and a natural feel for the game. On the offensive end, she does an excellent job of controlling pace, using hesitations and deception to lift defenders off their feet and open up passing lanes for her teammates. Tonight truly was a tale of two halves for her — in the first, she took over offensively, leading the team in scoring while going 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. In the second half, she shifted into a different gear, locking in defensively, minimizing turnovers, feeding her post players, and managing the clock with maturity. A highly intelligent guard who clearly understands how to impact a game in multiple ways.

A steady guard who handles the ball well and surveys the floor. Last year as a freshman in high school she started all 23 games and had her school one game for the state title! A good down hill player that can get to the rack. A much improved three point shooter and is a good passer that can play both guard positions!

A very aggressive game that makes her when she gets rolling! She was one of her high school team leading scorers. Has an array of moves in order to get her shot off in the half court! Known as a point guard but she has true combo guard skills and I won’t be surprised if that’s her natural position. Was one the main reason LC Bird made a deep playoff push this season!
