Expert Analysis
Robert Kelly | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Wurtz is one of the most complete players in the classification and has poured in more than 1,200 points in her career. Last season he averaged 22.8 points, a whopping 42% from three and 85% from the line. She also picked up 5.8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3.8 steals. Wurtz gets things going on drives, finishing at speed and through contact. Among the class’s top sprinters and jumpers those abilities show her strength and inability of defenders to stop her. The consensus first team all-state pick is driving to finish her career as a four-time Twin Valley League first team selection.

Wurtz enters her senior season ranked No. 59 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. She scored 22.8 points per game during her junior campaign. She contributes in all aspects of the game, as the back of her basketball card also featured averages of 5.8 rebounds, 3.8 steals, and three assists per contest. She converted on an eye-popping 122-of-143 attempts at the free throw line last season. That’s good for an 85 shooting percentage from the charity stripe.

After averaging nearly 23 points per game a year ago on 50% shooting Wurtz could rack up 1600 career points by the end of the year. Following last year she picked up her third Twin Valley League first team selection and was a unanimous, first team all-state pick by KBCA, KSHSAACovered and SIK. Wurtz is a terrific athlete who either is a 1A champion or high medalist in 4 different sprint and jumping events. The speed and hops translate to the court. She uses solid handles, a quality ball fake and scoring ability through contact with either hand and variety of shots to rack up scores and trips to the free throw line. Pack in the defense, Wurtz will shoot the three at a 42% clip. Let her get into the paint, she is a walking three point play. A career 77% from the line, she shot 85% on 143 attempts in 2025. A talent even TVL teams do not want a bench player taking on. For most, it could get real ugly, real quick.

Wurtz competes in all sports at high speed. She has recorded 183 assists and 122 kills for Clifton Clyde in 53 sets played. She can run a fast break with the best of the point guards in Kansas. Wurtz also competed as a sprinter at the state track meet last season. She is ranked No. 59 overall by PGH Kansas, and to my knowledge, is still uncommitted.

is rising as one of the most efficient three-point shooters in the state, knocking down an impressive 42% of her attempts. She can consistently space the floor and punish defenses that make the mistake to leave her open, making her a constant threat from the perimeter. Whether in transition, off the catch, or coming off screens, she has the confidence and consistency to change the momentum of a game with her shooting. Wurtz’s ability to stretch defenses opens up the offense for Clifton-Clyde and makes her a high-value prospect for programs in need of reliable perimeter scoring.

is a dynamic scoring guard who consistently finds ways score. A natural offensive threat, Wurtz has developed into one of the most reliable scorers in the Clifton-Clyde lineup, combining craft, confidence, and a scorer’s mentality to impact games at every level of the floor. She excels in transition, often pushing the tempo and converting defense into quick offense. In the halfcourt, Wurtz showcases a balanced offensive arsenal — she’s capable of knocking down the three, pulling up in the midrange, and finishing creatively through contact at the rim. Her shooting form is compact and repeatable, and she doesn’t hesitate to take big shots in key moments, showing clear signs of a clutch gene.

is a phenomenal three-level scorer who consistently demonstrates the ability to score at will. Her offensive game is incredibly comprehensive, allowing her to convert effectively from long range, the mid-range, and by attacking the basket. What truly elevates her game is her remarkable athleticism; she is both explosively fast and highly athletic, enabling her to create separation and finish against defenders with ease.
This combination of versatile scoring and elite physical tools makes Sevy a truly dynamic and dominant offensive force on the court.

The Eagles failed to overcome eventual state champion Frankfort in a close sub-state final last season. Heading into her junior year Wurtz has already piled up 715 points while shooting 37% from three point land, 75% from the line and holding a 1 assists-to-turnover ratio. The class is loaded with talented point guards so being my top pick is saying something. The Twin Valley League is arguably the toughest 1A league in the state and she is a returning two-time first team selection. She also earned Sports In Kansas 1A D I first team as well as KBCA and KSHSAACovered second team honors. While she has not received offers yet, she will as more schools focus on the 2026s.
