was creating offense after picking the pocket taking the steal the other direction with her speed and making it count at the rim. She does so well seeing the floor and hitting her teammates in stride as they make hard cuts to the basket. She got up high grabbing steals at the top of the key, and she can certainly explode up the court making the turnover a costly mistake for her opponents. Her steals alone were fun to watch stripping the ball from her opponents and pushing it the other direction. She knows how to control the tempo of the game.

The end result for Paylor and her Southeast Alamance assembling may have been different from last season when the Stallions prevailed over North Wilkes. Paylor can still be proud of the 23 points and the East Most Outstanding Player honors she departed from Wake Forest with. Paylor’s performance also included eight rebounds, six steals and a pair of assists in addition to playing all 32 minutes. As a veteran point guard, attacking the rim is her bread and butter. One can set up the best defensive scheme to prevent her from scoring a pair of points and Paylor will still slice and dice through said defense.

moves well with the ball pushing the tempo up the court to score some points in transition. She knows how to get her teammates involved finding the openings hitting them in stride. She is feisty and sneaky on defense coming out of nowhere to grab steals and pick the pocket of her opponents.

is quick with the ball in her hands getting up the court setting up offensive plays. She always keeps her eyes peeled knowing when she should take her own shot or find the open teammate by the basket. She does well getting downhill attacking the basket scoring herself, and she can show off her step back move hitting the jumper. Her quickness is effective on the defensive side of the ball jumping in the passing lanes taking over the possession.

was all over the court on defense hustling after the possession knocking the ball away, picking the pocket of her opponents, or hustling back on fast breaks to stop the basket. She saw the floor well bouncing it in to her teammates making the cut, and she didn’t have a problem picking the pocket of her opponents and scoring off the turnover herself.

Paylor is fun to watch. She can score from any spot on the court. She also takes pride in her defense and rebounding as well. As a sophomore, she scored 14 points per game. Paylor is a strong guard rebounder who grabbed 5 rebounds each night. She is a complete player who also dished out 4 assists and created 4 steals every night. Paylor can create space for her shot in the paint with a step-through or a nice shot fake. She is a savvy player ready for an exceptional year.

Shaniya Paylor seems to be all over the floor on full court presses flying around to jump in front of passes or dive on the floor to get loose balls. She can pick the pocket of any guard trying to get by her, and she explodes with the ball to the other end of the court on her own fast break. She makes good decisions for these transition points knowing when to finish at the rim or make a jump stop to get the ball through the hoop.
