Kyle Sandy | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Laria brings a physically imposing presence to the guard position with her sturdy 5-11 frame, allowing her to absorb contact and finish through traffic. She blends size with skill in a way that creates consistent matchup problems, operating comfortably as a 1-4 hybrid with point-forward capabilities. Sofia’s versatility stands out—she can initiate offense, stretch the floor, and punish defenders inside.
Around the basket, she displays advanced footwork, utilizing spin moves, reverse pivots, and controlled stops to create space for high-percentage looks. Her ability to finish with both hands adds another layer of difficulty for defenders trying to contest her. In the mid-range, she’s poised and efficient, often getting to her spots out of the pick-and-roll where she can either short roll into space or pop for clean looks.
Laria’s feel for the game is evident in her decision-making and timing. She understands angles, spacing, and how to manipulate defenders. If she continues to extend her range out to the three-point line with consistency, her offensive arsenal will become even more dangerous. A polished, high-IQ guard with a strong foundation, Laria has all the tools to be a major contributor at the next level.

I loved what the big guard brought to the table in a 63-59 win. Laria has great versatility. Standing around 5-foot-11, Sofia’s got a filled out frame which is capable of playing through bumps and bruises around the rim. Her guard skills give her the ability to stretch the floor as well, making her a mismatch with her 1-4 point forward approach. Sofia has good footwork when attacking the rim, stopping on a dime with spin moves and reverse pivots to get to short turnaround jumpers. She finishes with both hands at the basket. Out of the pick-and-roll, she can hurt defenses by either short rolling or popping out for long balls. Her instincts and toughness defensively played a huge role in holding off HER Elite EYCL as she intercepted multiple passes with great anticipation. Laria racked up 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals.

Sofia continues to hold her ground in the Top 30 and even moved up a spot after a good showing at the Sophomore ID Camp. She led her Palmer Trinity team in rebounds last season, and she was second or third in ever other statistical category which is a testament to her versatility. Her growth and consistency come from the work she continues to put in and the level of competition she plays year-round.

brings high energy and great vibes to the court. She’s a competitor who clearly has fun playing the game. Sofia’s ability to track rebounds—whether grabbing them at the highest point or chasing them down—created many extra opportunities for her teams. In 3v3, she was so active that she immediately stood out. She can get downhill and finish at the rim, while also stretching the floor with a smooth shooting stroke. Her length and IQ caused constant problems for opponents. Beyond her skills, Sofia stood out as a true team player, motivating and encouraging her teammates every possession.

I’ve seen Sofia a couple of times, but I’m really excited to see how she stacks up against her peers in Longwood on Saturday. Her length and frame make her a really intriguing, versatile prospect from South Florida. Last high school season, she put up 9.3 points per game and an even more impressive 8.3 rebounds per game.

Sofia rounds out the Top 20 players in the class of 2028 as a lengthy wing with a high basketball IQ. She is a high motor kid that slashes and rebounds with high energy and can score it from all over. Her stroke from deep but also her ability to post up smaller defenders makes her one of the most versatile hoopers in this class. Sofia is coachable, hard working, and seems to have a strong desire to reach her potential. With Palmer Trinity this school year, she averaged 9.3 ppg and 8.3 rpg due to a really strong second half of the season coming into her own.
