The 2030 Freshman Showcase was loaded with talent that will be the new faces of future college recruiting boards at every level. This marquee showcase set a PGH Michigan record with 94 prospects registered for the event, marking our second straight year with 90+ freshmen taking the court. We are truly grateful for the overwhelming support of Prep Girls Hoops and our showcases by the Michigan community. Your support enables us to do what we love: evaluate and identify as many college prospects across the entire state, while providing the best coverage we can to as many players as possible. Our format included 4 hours of games split up into predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups. Every court was coached by college coaches, and they did a phenomenal job working with the players and providing feedback during the games. Let's talk about media exposure. There have been thousands of views of our live coverage on X and Instagram, and our post-event articles will be read by hundreds. Every participant receives a write-up in our articles, which is something unique and special about the Prep Girls Hoops showcases. My coverage focused primarily on teams 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. Here is a snapshot of strengths I noticed while watching prospects who competed for Team 3:

PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, Aug. 22, 2026.

PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, Aug. 22, 2026.

Taylor is a three-point threat who can put points on a hurry when she has space from beyond the arc. It was her impact as a facilitator that stood out during the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. She has tight handles and changes directions with smooth behind-the-back snaps, crossovers, and pocket dribbles. Taylor keeps her eyes up, moves well without the ball, and creates open looks for teammates by setting screens. She made a great inside-out kickout to assist on a corner three, and her unselfish extra pass on a fastbreak led to an easy two points for a teammate. Taylor stayed alert on the defensive end, picked off a pass in transition, sprinted from behind to poke a ball out for a steal, snagged a long lead pass for a nice fast-break left-handed finish off two feet, and contributed as a rebounder. She had a solid day for Team 3 and will be the court general at Bay City Central this winter.

Another top-shelf playmaker is joining the Belleville backcourt. I was very excited to see Kori sign up for the PGH Freshman Showcase, and she delivered a dominant performance from start to finish. Kori produced in every phase of the game, showing the capability to play the role of a pure scorer and a commanding court general. She made cross-court passes that created wide-open looks, leading to many assists. Kori penetrated on a drive and fired a skip pass to the corner for an assist on a three. She rocketed a long, one-handed pass up the court through defenders to a sprinting teammate on a fast break for another assist, and kicked the ball again for an assist on a perimeter jumper. Kori has a compact strength, athleticism, quickness, and dynamic skill set that makes her a daunting defensive assignment. She blew by with a burst to score straight-line layups, changed hands in mid-air to convert a tough bucket off the glass, was aggressive on the offensive glass, and used her quick hands to create steals on defense. Kori knocked down a mid-corner three at the buzzer during 3v3 and showed the ability to hit the outside shot in 5v5 games. She dribbled into a pair of triples from the wing and used wide lateral dribbles to create the space needed to get the shot away. Kori's multidimensional presence will make her an asset in any role. Her complete impact helped Team 3 be successful at the event and earned her recognition as my 2026 PGH Freshman Showcase MVP.

Sofia will be a dynamic guard to watch at Ovid-Elsie this winter. She gave Team 3 an edge with her scrappy effort and confidence from three. Sofia catches passes ready to fire with her feet balanced. She drained a smooth corner three and added another moonshot from the wing that found nothing but net. Sofia shuffled quickly laterally to stop a drive, generated a steal, finished a fast-break layup in top gear, scored a tough, coast-to-coast layup, and took the ball strong to the basket to earn a trip to the line. She can facilitate as the lead guard, create space with her dribble, and find soft spots in the defense to ignite the offense. Sofia was a productive contributor for Team 3 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

Lauryn is a compact guard with an athletic build, hustle, and determination that stands out on the court. She competes with non-stop energy and effort, making her a difficult player to keep off the boards. Lauryn's determination led to multiple rebounds on the offensive end. I made a note of her strength and physicality. Lauryn's quick feet and ball-pressure on the perimeter made a great impression on the defensive end. She can create space with her crossover dribbles in the lane and drives hard to the basket. Lauryn will be a good addition to the Southfield A & T program, and she demonstrated great potential at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

Callie showed her outside range by draining a smooth corner three during 3v3, and she fit right in with Team 3 during the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. She caught a pass in the paint, used a great pivot, and swished a tough turnaround jumper with a high arc over a long post defender. Callie was active on the defensive boards, pushed the ball up the floor with both hands to start the fast break, and has a confident stroke from three-point range. She'll be a great addition to the Haslett program.

Natalie has length and versatility that will make her an immediate contributor for Bath. She had a solid day for Team 3 at the PGH Freshman Showcase. Natalie made her presence felt as a rebounder, and her determination resulted in many offensive boards. She scored a strong putback, converted a soft finish high off the glass over a contesting defender, and generated a steal after maintaining textbook defensive positioning in the gap. Natalie is a promising prospect I'm excited to see more of in the coming years.

Sofia gave Team 3 a spark at the PGH Freshman Showcase with her outside shot and looked like a guard ready to make an impact at the high school level. She's a threat to shoot from anywhere beyond the arc and shot the ball confidently throughout the day. Sofia's sharp ball-handling made an impression during 3v3, and she drove hard to the basket for a strong and-one finish with her left. She facilitated well and buried a wing three in the 5v5 games. Sofia scored a fast-break bucket, catching the pass in stride for the full-speed finish, and made a smart extra pass for an assist after the defender committed to her dribble.

Ellie is no stranger to the showcase environment. She was consistent from start to finish and turned in a solid effort during the 3v3 and 5v5 segments. Ellie drilled a straightaway three up top, tripled in the corner, and slashed to the hoop for a eurostep finish high off the glass in traffic. She dove on the floor to secure 50/50 balls, cut backdoor, and earned trips to the line with her assertive drives. Ellie worked hard to get into position for offensive rebounds, stretched the floor with her three-point shooting, and facilitated the ball effectively. She'll be an instant playmaker in the backcourt at Fraser this winter and was very productive for Team 3 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.

Gwen was on watch for a breakout performance at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, and she delivered under the spotlight. Gwen has an advantage with her long frame, and she used every inch of it to disrupt passing lanes and defend space. She used a rip move to drive by her defender, then beat the help to the doorstep for a high finish. Gwen put on a footwork clinic after attacking down the baseline, pivoting, and stepping through to score in traffic. She split through a gap to score a floater, froze her defender with a shot-fake to score a drive-by layup, defended well in the post, and converted layups with both hands efficiently throughout the day. Gwen scored a tough and-one layup through contact, and got to the rim whenever she wanted to. She showed the confidence to shoot the three and drilled a smooth wing triple off the bounce. Gwen has the athleticism, length, and strength of a forward, can handle the ball in the open court, penetrate, score at the rim, and knock down shots from the outside. She has an extremely high ceiling and will be the newcomer everyone's talking about this winter in the CAAC. Portland will be an exciting young team.
