About Sophia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a bigger guard who likes to stick around the perimeter to shoot, but can also play inside and rebound. I frequently screen to get my teammates open, and move off the ball to help maintain a fluent offense.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

In terms of mentality, I try to maintain very positive, and not focus on mistakes in the past but focus on the next play. I really enjoy competing, and hate to lose. I also thoroughly enjoy playing with my teammates and experiencing success with them. I’m a person who loves to see others happy and successful, and I love being apart of a team.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am in Peer Jury, and HOSA.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve learned a lot about leadership from sports. I understand that the most success comes from lifting eachother up and playing as a team. It can be being the voice in hard times, or helping teammates off the court- but it’s all extremely important. During community service I’ve learned what it means to be a active member within the community, but helping to distribute fortune and essentials.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I’ve had back to back injury’s two years in a row. During my knee injury, though I missed being able to play the game, I learned how to contribute off the court. I also faced the challenge of gaining back athleticism and the confidence on the court.

What type of college are you looking for?

A D2 school, with great academics and community!
