Expert Analysis
Ally McGinnis | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Despite only being in the 9th grade, Hernandez has already accumulated plenty of varsity playing experience. Last winter she ran much of the offense for Visitation, playing a key role all the way into the postseason. This past summer with the Minnesota Fury , the 5’3 point guard impressed us on numerous occasions with her high-level playmaking, tight handle on the basketball and calm demeanor in high-pressure situations. This past Sunday Sophia showed all of that and more. The Blazers freshman looked to score early and often. By constantly scanning the floor and reading the defense for openings, Hernandez was able to explode towards the rim in the blink of an eye. She’ll certainly be a player to watch in the Tri-Metro conference this season.
