About Sophie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My style is versatile. I can unlock the midrange as well as the post position. I am also quick on my feet, both offensively and defensively. Finally, I am very vocal player.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a mentally tough individual who can withstand the critics and suggestions my teammates and coaches have, whilst trying to implement or change them as soon as the chance is given. I am also resilient when it comes to obstacles with myself or the team, since I try to lift everyone one up with a positive mindset and encouraging attitude.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I currently play AAU basketball with the New England Storm U16 team.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

In my first year being in the States, I have developed my sportsmanship not only towards my teammates but also against my opponents. In addition, my time management skills have also flourished in the Prep-School environment, since I can deal effectively and efficiently with my homework and basketball duties.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced numerous challenges, for instance adapting to a new country. I arrived in the States in August of 2024 for my freshman year at Kimball Union Academy, where I had to leave my parents for the first time at the age of 15 years old and create a whole new community. Luckily, this paid out and now I love the States, and have made so many amazing connections being at KUA.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am currently looking for any college that has an interest in my growth both as a player and aspiring leader. The program of this college has to fit my values and my aspirations.

With a lot on her plate in Sophie’s first full year in states, she’s proved to be an intriguing name to keep an eye on. Dupeyron had to adjust to playstyle, conditioning, team chemistry, language barriers, etc. and was still a positive on the floor. Despite Sophie having to overcome many underlying factors of the game, this never slowed her down. This season she’ll be much more comfortable and KUA will have an abundance of opportunities for her to shine bright with her hardworking, utilitarian skillset.
