The Charger 2A all-stater and Flint Hills League first teamer is primed for a big season after dropping a sub-state final to go to state last year. Her frame, length and strength alone cause problems around the glass but add in her fluid play, transition ability and willing defense Orton will wear opponents out on both ends.

The 2025 season saw the fields of the 3A and 2A state tournament include a team from the Flint Hills League. Only a four point, sub-state final loss to 2A state runner-up Doniphan West kept the Chargers from reaching it instead. Expect the league to make noise this year again. All five Flint Hills League first team selections, including Orton, return. Only this year Wabaunsee will be in 1A D I. KBCA, KSHSAA and SIK named her to their 2A honorable mention teams and, given how much her game has grown over the summer, she should make first or second team all-state. The power forward is a force on both ends. Fluid on offense, physical defensively (as most SSA players are) and blessed with a length; strength and a solid frame she will be a serious problem keeping her off the glass. She knows how to get good looks inside and will keep defenders honest by shooting over them from afar too. She gained 23 spots in the rankings and could move into the top 50 with December’s release.

The entire Flint Hills League first team, including Orton, will return in 2026. Following the 2025 season she also earned KBCA, KSHSAA and SIK 2A honorable mention selections. Orton may be doing double duty this weekend playing for the Chargers and her SSA club team. Two league teams reached the state tournament in 2025, Osage City in 3A and Chase County in 2A. Orton and the Chargers will look to improve on their 17 wins to get there in 2026.
