Expert Analysis

Wood has elevated her game a lot since her freshman season. She saw more reps in the Thunderbolt rotation and was effective. She averaged 4.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game and had her best game of the season against Walden Grove where she finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. A disciplined shot blocker with a lengthy wing span who is very disruptive in the paint. Showed she can space the floor well with a dangerous three ball. Wood is becoming a more skilled dribbler who can attack the basket and score a variety of ways. I expect a breakout season for Wood this upcoming season for the Thunderbolts. A player with a very high ceiling.

Wood plays with a very strong motor. She is a tall body with a good wingspan who defends the paint very well. She is a very effective defender out on the perimeter as well as in transition. Great shot blocking ability and strong on the boards. Did very well on second chance scoring opportunities and has a strong and accurate pass. She has a solid handle on the ball. Wood is still very young and has elevated her game very much in the last year. She has developed a really good three ball and continues to show she has the skill and ability to be an effective play maker and scorer.

Wood has stood out in her limited playing time for the Thunderbolts. Her best game of the season came against a tough Walden Grove team where she finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. I’ve had the chance to see Taryn not only in games this season but also in workouts and training sessions and she has been impressive to say the least. She has a very strong motor and is a physical player. She has the ability to space the floor and shoot the three ball. Her season averages were 4.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Expect a huge off-season from wood and some very heavy minutes in the 2026/2027 season where she’ll have a breakout year.

Wood is ready to burst into the scene this season. She is another addition to a strong Thunderbolt forward rotation. She is a skilled dribbler that can make a move and get to her spot. Shot the ball very well off the catch from behind the arc. Did very well defensively blocking shots and grabbing rebounds. She’s just scratching the surface and has a very high ceiling.
