was determined to get out to a faster start than she did in the semifinals. She did just knocking down 6 points in the 1st quarter. Turner led all scorers with 16 points. Turner controlled the pace as usual. She got in the paint, created freethrow opportunties, and attacked the basket. Turner also had some sweet midrange shots in the Finals. Turner controlled the game. Looking back at her performance over the weekend, the thing that stood out was her poise in big moments, her confidence to handle the ball, and her ability to take and make the big shot in the critical moments of ballgames.

The combo guard led her team to becoming EYBL Birmingham 17s champions. Her court vision creates for better opportunities for her teammates and she delivered many dimes to her teammates throughout the tournament. She has a nice vertical giving her an advantage on the boards despite her height. She also creates for herself, attacking the basket hard and pulling up when help side defenders do not step up. She is a catalyst for Essence’s 17U team and is sure to have a competitive summer.

The 5-7 point guard helped lead Dr. Phillips to back-to-back state championships and is a culprit when she is on the floor. Turner can score in a variety of ways and this year was no exception, as she averaged 19.5 points, 10.1 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game. She is also one of the toughest players to go up against one-on-one. Turner was named the Florida High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year as well, courtesy of MaxPreps.

The 5-8 junior point guard was the best player on the floor in both the semifinals and championship games. Despite scoring just 9 points in the semifinal game, Turner made all her free throws going 3-for-3 from the line. During the championship game, Turner scored 18 of her game-high 22 points in the second half after being held to just four points in the first half.

The 5-6 point guard has all the intangibles that a guard carries, she is one of the most persistent passers, scorers and facilitators you will find in this week’s Final Four. She controls the game with an excellent pace and has a high basketball IQ. Turner also can create separation by creating her own shot and knocks down at a high rate.
