Expert Analysis

Victoria caught my eye quickly, and one of the first things that stood out was how advanced her movement was without the ball. She understood where to relocate based on ball position and consistently avoided the kind of “record scratch” moments where players clog driving lanes or end up in the wrong spot. Her shooting ability really popped because of how consistently she made defenses pay. If left open, she was more than capable of making teams regret it. Against Edom Elite, she knocked down four threes in the first half and played a major role in helping her team build a strong lead heading into the break. She stayed hot in the second half and continued to make shots from deep. Most of her work came off the catch, but she also looked comfortable making shots off the dribble. On top of that, her handle looked smooth and functional. Victoria looks ready to make her name known this spring and summer.

Another guard who showed she is a high level scorer and fearless competitor, Spiegl was showcasing her offensive game early and often Sunday. A good shooter, Victoria was also doing a great job of putting the ball on the court and getting paint touches that allowed her to score or create for teammates, especially in the 3 on 3 games at the start of the day.

Victoria put her full offensive arsenal on display at The Classic, showcasing her impressive 3-level scoring ability. She got into the lane to toss up floaters or finish at the rim and was unafraid contact. Her outside shot was on target, and she did a fantastic job finding her teammates for quality shots. Victoria had one play where she went behind-the-back into a tough turnaround jumper on the block, making a difficult move look easy. She was also active on the glass and came up with several steals.

She shoots the deep ball with confidence, crashes the glass, facilitates for her teammates, and is very disruptive on defense. She had several breakout performances, including a team-high 25 points in the first matchup against Henry County, followed by a monster game in the second with 32 points, 6 rebounds, 8 deflections, 3 steals, 3 blocks, and 2 assists.

Located between the Louisville and Cincinnati locales is another noteworthy standout that previously played at the varsity level as a seventh grader. In fact, not only did she play varsity in the seventh grade, she was Eminence’s leading scorer that year. Eminence HS is where Spiegl calls her athletic and academic home and she averaged 11.7 points for the Warriors last season as an eighth grader. Spiegl can give a team productive minutes at either of the guard positions in the backcourt. She has always played with a fearless attitude which is why she was no ordinary seventh or eighth grader and will look to keep her teammates involved in the flow of a game.
