Vonna is an aggressive player who has no quit in her game. In the first matchup I watched this morning, she truly couldn’t be stopped from attacking the rim. Time after time, she found ways to get into the paint, showing the craftiness and focus needed to score around or over the top of a packed defense. What stood out was her willingness to keep applying pressure regardless of who was in front of her. She plays twice her size and is not a player you want to be left guarding in an isolation situation.

There aren’t many players with the athletic tools Shill has. She’s an explosive athlete who can make plays on both ends of the floor that others physically can’t. However, the one thing I noted from her games was her jumper. She had been a player who tried to elevate as much as possible, and as a result, the results were inconsistent. That said, she was more under control when shooting the ball, and I thought she looked more comfortable shooting the ball than I’ve ever seen from her.

Don’t let her height fool you. Vonna knows how to finish when she gets to the basket showing the ability to utilize great body position to finish in and through taller defenders. A constant threat, to pop from distance, Vonna made the defense pay when crowded, getting to the hoop, at will, and finishing with either hand.

Shill was a 2028 prospect who showed out in the presence of upperclassmen at the Expo. Her commitment to competing on both ends of the floor was apparent. Boxing out with physicality, filling and leading the break, she made impactful winning plays for team 5. Shill proved to be a hard nosed guard who had an eye for playmaking for herself and others time and time again. The pace and ball movement looked different with her on the floor.

Vonna seemed to be everywhere all at once. She has good bounce and uses her body well to create space. She is quick off of the dribble and was a constant threat to showcase her range with several quick, step-back 3’s from 20-23 feet. She’s a strong finisher around the hoop who knows how to use body position and leverage to play a lot taller than her frame.
