Haygood has always been amongst the leaders in the State in steals and this year is no exception – she sits at 8.6 steals per game. The speedy, athletic, and crafty guard is also burning the nets down with over 24 points per game . Haygood is a terror in all phases of the game – a thief on defense, an attacker on offense, and poetic in the transition game. Haygood controls the pace from beginning to end – the reason she is one of the top guards in the 2027 class.

More deliberate in her play, she proved that she can affect a game in many ways. A true defensive thief who turns steals into points, Haygood’s improved midrange touch and added physicality elevate her into elite company. She can also attack the rim in the half-court setting and score in variety of ways. That was the biggest change to her game – scoring in numerous ways.

At the PGH Expo, “Haygood was way good”. Her confidence was higher, and she was fierce and under control when attacking on the break. She’s become a much more skilled guard — who can score the ball in multiple ways with craftiness and skill. She converted steals into easy buckets which has always been her specialty. But, it looked different and more deliberate – cleaner handles, better body control, improved finishing touch, and even more confidence as a play maker for teammates. Haywood’s play on both ends reflects a player who’s worked hard on her fundamentals. Already a good player – Haywood got better.

Her athleticism, shiftiness, and her execution in the floor were displayed in front of college coaches and her peers. Known for her ability to rack up steals, Haygood applied pressure defensively, created steals and repeatedly converted them into fast-break points. She used craftiness and athleticism to finish at the rim and wasn’t afraid of contact. Haygood equally good on the offensive side of the ball and in transition. A lot of Haygood’s game was predicated on her on-ball defense and ability to read passing lanes. From there her game unfolded into a consistent playmaker, and she definitely left an impression at the Expo.

Haygood has some serious body control and it’s evident in the open court. She can hang in the air, contort her body at various angles, take the hit, and still convert the shot. Defensively, Haygood is a “playmaker.” She has the ability to track the ball like a “safety”, play the passing lanes, and can also rip the handler. Her offense was really special and showed the work she has put into her craft. Haygood’s short midrange jumper was on point and getting downhill was also impressive. She put everyone on notice – she has the ability to not only defend, but can run the floor, and consistently score the ball.

Yasmine Haygood is senior loading once again and looking to be among the State’s leaders in steals. She thrives in the full-court press, using her court vision, speed, athleticism, and instincts to make plays all over the floor. Haygood sets the tone on defense with relentless ball pressure and disruptive hands. Her presence causes momentum swings, making her one of the most impactful senior guards in the state.

Haygood is a guard with instincts you can’t teach. She sees plays developing before the ball even moves, often baiting opponents into risky passes she’s ready to pounce on. Her anticipation is next level stuff. Once she has it, she pushes the tempo and finishes at the rim on the left and right. Haygood’s defensive presence not only produces steals, it alters how teams run their offense. She can get on a role and before the offense can adjust she has already produced steals and changed the momentum.

She has the ability to get off the floor quickly around the rim and bounce right back up like a pogo stick. The same quickness applies to her shot, as she can pull up off the dribble with ease. This translates just as well on the defensive end, where she is always in the passing lanes and a nuisance on the ball. It’s no surprise that this past high school season, she was one of the top players in the state in steals.

Yasmine Haygood was “way-good” a few weeks ago in one of the Inside Exposure tournaments. She killed it, especially in the full court press. She utilized her court vision, speed, athleticism, and instincts to make plays all over the court. Her ability to finish off of a turnover was telling and really showed her instincts and basketball IQ. Defensively, she was a beast, but that’s nothing new. She is one the main steals leader in the entire State of Florida.
