Soufan is a fun watch that’s starting to get the respect she deserves. Yara is a serious gamer that has a tight handle and makes the defense react. Her playmaking alone generates great looks. This is one to keep an eye on in the class.

Yara has been mentioned quite a few times and for good reason. She’s always been known to be one of the more skilled guards within the class, but this season she proved even more about herself. Soufan showed that she has the capacity to be a complete gamechanger in any given matchup. It’s hard to gameplan for someone who is so confident and has counters for most of the things thrown her way. Without a doubt this season has been successful for Yara.

Yara has a tight handle, doing an excellent job dealing with ball pressure in the open court. In the half court, she keeps defenders guessing with her change of pace and direction. She has a smooth pull-up jumper in the mid-range, elevating well before releasing her shot, and also uses a soft floater to finish over taller defenders in the paint. Yara has put together a strong freshman season, highlighted by a recent double-double of 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists, and will be reclassing to the Class of 2030, returning as a freshman next year.

Yara plays with impressive patience and poise beyond her years. She excels in the pick-and-roll, drawing multiple defenders before delivering timely passes to cutting teammates, and never looks rushed or out of control. On defense, she has active hands that lead to steals and quick transition chances, while her effective jab steps and pump fakes allow her to beat defenders with simple, efficient moves.

Talk about a player being electric, Yara brings a spark to each game. Her relentless attitude getting to the rim keeps her at the line, plus she operates very well in pick & roll situations. Above all else though, she’s dependable as well as consistent in her approach. Soufan has the potential to be such a bigtime player within this class.

Yara is able to create shots for herself with ease, highlighted by a smooth step-back three she knocked down in the corner. She can’t be left open for even a second, as she has the ability to make something out of nothing with just the slightest bit of space. With a deep bag of moves to get her shot off, Yara is always a threat offensively. She’s also a scrappy hustle player, diving on multiple loose balls, and she’s strong with the ball in the paint, able to finish through contact.

Yara is a potent lead guard that has a tight handle, great vision and understands how to be effective best. Soufan makes great reads plus she elevates her teammates, getting the best out of them throughout the course of the game. She also knows when to take her shots and she makes them, regardless of the difficulty. It’s hard to imagine Yara not being a name to know in the class as time goes on.

Soufan is a player with a lot of potential. Yara is a pleasant and rather refreshing hardworking guard that serves as a primary ballhandler as well being a prominent playmaker. Her footwork in combination with a remarkably tight handle that looks to be on a string make her such a force to consider with the ball in her hands.
