The LSU commit and 2025 Miss Basketball left it all on the floor and made sure her squad walked away with the “W”. She made an impact from the jump, creating off the dribble, drawing contact, and getting to the line early. In the first quarter, she ripped down a rebound with authority and followed it up with a big-time block. Her offensive rhythm picked up in the second quarter with a short jumper and a corner triple. ZaKiyah continued to finish strong at the rim and made another three late in the first half to trim the lead to just two. Her perimeter defense was outstanding, and she showed her court-vision with a crisp lead pass to spark a fast break in the third. Then she took over in the fourth, burying a dagger corner three off an inbound play, followed by another one from the wing to put the nail in the coffin. ZaKiyah scored from everywhere on the floor, crashed the boards, and played with a clear will to win.

is having a GREAT Senior season that should not be overlooked. If you interpret the award as a career award, Johnson wins. If you only look at the Senior season, she still wins but Macy makes things closer. It all depends on how the voters interpret the award but it’s hard to deny the best player on the team that has won state every year of her high school career so far.

Johnson always puts on a show, but the way she played so selfless in the opening round further spoke to how special of a player she truly is. Despite facing double-teams, she stayed calm and collected and found the open teammate. The way she can elevate over defenders to knock down jumpers is extremely tough to stop, no matter how athletic the defender is. She finished with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals.

Bishop McNamara and Sacred Heart played a really good game to start the day. Bishop McNamara won this game 66-60, and Sacred Heart battled back from an early deficit to make this game close. Sacred Heart Junior G/F ZaKiyah Johnson was tremendous throughout the game. She was aggressive as a driver all game and did a great job as a cutter. Her commitment to getting to the rim and not settling was why she could get to the line as much as she did. She rebounded the ball well and was active on defense. ZaKiyah finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals.

Not a surprise here as Zakiyah has been the top 2025 in the state since the class starting making an impact. Johnson is the highest ranked player to come from Kentucky for as long as I can remember and has narrowed her list of colleges from over 40 to a top 12.
