KP is one of the better guards in the class of 2029 in Georgia and her ability to score the basketball from the guard position was on full display again on Saturday. Phillips has mastered the dying art of the pull up midrange jump shot. Couple that with her quickness and ability to change speeds, Phillips is very difficult to stop when she gets going downhill with the ball. Her hands are as quick as her feet which allowed her to intercept balls in the passing lane and pick the ball off dribblers. I have seen her consistently finish over taller defenders and through contact at the rim over the last year against very good competition. College coaches have started to take notice, with North Carolina A&T the latest school to offer.

Phillips impressed against the Zone6 Celtics. She was aggressive on offense, looking for her shot. Though she’s on the shorter side, Phillips blends strength with speed in order to penetrate. Za’Kyra got to her floater and was effective in transition. Phillips started off her big game with a pair of threes. She totaled 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Heading into her sophomore season, Phillips is trending up as minutes should become more and more available each season at Hillgrove.

KP went on several scoring tears throughout The Clash for FBC NextUp scoring the ball in a variety of ways, coming from all three levels. Phillips was able to get to the painted area at will, both from the wings and baseline, as well as the top of the key in the harcourt. In transition she was equally effective and damaging to opposing defenses scoring the ball and finding her open teammates. She possess the kind of natural athletic ability that few players have and would be a high performing athlete at any sport that she chose. Because of the star power in front of her in high school, the playing time and experience she and every other young player needs she is getting now. Defensively she has the ability to take opposing players out of the game with her competitiveness and previously mentioned athleticism. Only a freshman, KP has a very bright future ahead of her.
