Sims had two very strong performances running the point position for FBC NextUp on Saturday. Her ability to get down hill with the dribble was a problem for both team’s defenses she faced. Her decision-making was excellent as she punished both teams scoring and assisting on baskets once she beat her primary defender. Maleah finished at the rim and pulling up just short of it. She hit shots from the midrange as well as from three point range, both off the dribble and in catch and shoot situations. Sims also used her elite athleticism to shut down the opposing team’s guards. Sims was one of the best individual performers throughout the tournament.

I loved the energy that Maleah provided, especially on defense. The scrappy sophomore was a nuisance in the press, ball hawking her way to multiple steals. Offensively, Sims dropped in a pair of floaters as she finished with 6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 6 steals.

Glue player meaning she does her job well on both ends of the court. You can’t not guard her because she will knock down the 3 ball when open. She understands the pace of the game and how to get teammates involved.
