Expert Analysis
Tony Chapman | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
One of the state’s Elite shooters, Beveridge led Gothenburg to a third place finish in a loaded Class C-1 tournament field. Beveridge has true “in the gym” range and had a stellar season for coach Tim Strausser averaging 16.9 points per contest for the Swedes, she also added 4.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.6 steals. A 30+ percent 3-point shooter, Beveridge made 80 triples last season and has over 150 career 3-point makes. Maybe held back a bit by not being on a “shoe circuit” team, Beveridge could see some action that way this spring.

An absolute bucket, Beveridge thrives in Gothenburg’s up-tempo style. Scored 56 points in three games as the Swedes finished third after beating Ogallala in the opening round and then falling to eventual champion Milford in the semifinals. This season, Beveridge eclipsed the 1,000 point career mark and set the Gothenburg school records for 3-pointers in a career (197) and a season (80). She will have a chance to be just the 15th Nebraska prep girl to make 250 career 3-points next season. Beveridge will not play nationally this summer, but NAIA and Division II level coaches should be sure to watch her at regional level tournaments.

compete over the past year knows that she might be something special in college one day, depending on where she ends up. Beveridge is another PG but she would be considered more of a scoring threat than anything else. The way that she can light the nets on fire from deep with her shot is very impressive. She can do it off the dribble or the catch and it always looks picture perfect when she lets it fly. Don’t get it twisted though, Beveridge has a handle and she knows how to use it as well. She can get to her spots off the bounce and she can even facilitate for the others that get open around her because of her ability to get into the teeth of the defense. This is someone that could play at that low-end D1 level at the end of the day but I think going to a D2 powerhouse might suit her a little bit better. We still have a few years from that decision though so for the moment she will hang onto the #5 spot as we round-out this Top Five Update.

is going to be a producer at the next level wherever she ends up. Beveridge is PG #1. She isn’t just someone with great instincts, vision, & passing ability. She can also light the nets on fire while shooting it from deep. When I say deep, I mean really deep and its off the catch or dribble. Mainly around the Volleyball line on whichever court she is competing on. When you add that all together, you get someone that can compete. I expect Beveridge to end up at the D2 level to start off her collegiate career but I do know a few Division-1 programs have reached out with questions already so who knows. For now I’m sure she isn’t worried about all that. She is just worried about the season at hand and that is respectable.

is the type that would be able to compete at the D1 level at a steady rate if given the opportunity. Beveridge can lead by orchestrating those around her with the ball in her hands as her team’s PG and captain but she can also work off the ball and light the nets on fire with her long-range shooting ability from deep. Beveridge is very good and very underrated. Like I mentioned, her range is limitless at this point off both the catch and dribble, all while being very creative on how she leads the others around her. She can also defend her position at a high rate and rebound thoroughly. Every college in the state of Nebraska should have offered someone like this by now and I’m sure Beveridge is ready to prove that this Winter at Gothenburg High School.

could be a D1 Basketball player before the end of her career. I just need to see her game against some other competition in the future. Beveridge is coming off of a VERY successful high school season individually. She killed in an every facet of the game and really stuck out as someone who can shoot the leather off of the ball from really far away. If that happens again this upcoming Winter, we are going to have to have some tough conversations because at the end of the day you have to produce. Production > Promise. If she continues to produce at such a high rate, it’ll be hard to keep her out of the Top Five for any longer realistically. She can GO and I’m hoping we see that more and more this upcoming Winter.

compete this Winter, you know that she is a top-notch competitor, that wants to beat her opponent in all facets of the game. Doesn’t matter if it’s assisting, rebounding, scoring, or defending. She wants to win and that helps Will her teams to victory in some tight contests. Beveridge is your ideal PG. She has good size at 5’9, she moves well off the dribble with some nifty in the half-court, she is ALWAYS willing to make the extra pass an open teammate, and she can really mix-it up if she see’s a 1v1 matchup in front of her in the open court. Defensively, her natural instincts and active hands help her eat in the category of tips/deflections. In this Update, Beveridge moves from #8 to #4. A significant jump moving into travel season. If she keeps on her trajectory, she will either end up at a high-end D2 or possibly a MM-D1. We will just have to wait and see.

be? Beveridge has shown off on the Varsity floor and the national AAU floor, that she can do everything asked of her at the guard position. She can either play the 1 or the 2, she can knock down open jumpers off the catch or dribble, she can get to the middle of the defense with her adaptability, and she can handle her matchups on defense between both spots. At Gothenburg, she is the future as their Top Dawg. She is someone that can easily take over the game and that was on full display during her Freshman campaign, so now we just have to see how she is going to follow that up.

compete, I was more than satisfied with her performance. She might only be going into her Sophomore season at Gothenburg High School but she checks off a lot of boxes that collegiate recruiters would have for her. First off, she makes everyone else around her better. That’s most important. Second, she can basically create her own off of the catch or dribble in a number of ways to get an easy bucket or assist. Third, she has a lot of intangibles. She communicates at a high rate, she is direct in her language, she sacrifices for those around her consistently, and she always looks like one of the most coordinated out on the court. In this Update, Beveridge moves up to the #8 spot in the Class and for good reason moving into the Winter.

. There is a lot to like about Beveridge and her game. Offensively, she is someone that can attack her defender off of the dribble and finish in a number of different ways at the rim, she can knock down shots from deep, and she can work from the midrange. Defensively, she gets after it. This is someone you can ask to pick up full court for an entire game and she will do it no questions asked but more-so, because she likes the challenge. This is a tougher Class to be highly ranked in with so many good guards, so If I were Beveridge I would be psyched to come in at #9 to start things off.
