And they just kept coming, the more she played, and the more people saw her.
The list eventually included both in-state Big Ten schools, with Michigan following MSU’s suit, along with Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Oregon, Villanova, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Marquette, among others, for a total of 17.
Now, she’s picked the one she prefers.
The rising senior guard announced Wednesday that she’d committed to Northwestern.
“Excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to Northwestern University where I will be continuing my academic and athletic career!” Hartman tweeted Wednesday night.
She led the Chiefs with a 16.8 points-per-game average, adding 7.2 rebounds per contest.
In the classroom, Hartman carries a 3.5 grade-point average, and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Hartman ranked No. 7 in the initial Prep Girls Hoops 2019 list, released last month.
Adams’ Smith gets JuCo full-ride to play at Jefferson
If Rochester Adams senior Makayla Smith was trying to find a place to play basketball where she could further her chances to keep doing so, accepting a full-ride scholarship to play at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo., is a great way to start.
Over the last decade, the Vikings, who play in the Division 1 junior college ranks, have sent 35 players on to play at other institutions, according to the team web site.
“I would like to start off by first thanking God for the opportunity to play this sport I love,” Smith tweeted in part on Tuesday night. “I’m excited and proud to be a Viking!!”
