Our four top wing players are definite hybrid position players. They combine skill sets of the small forward and the shooting guard to enhance their game. Minnesota, UNI, and Nebraska Kearney are three of the schools who will be adding our top wings to their rosters next year. Justice Ross - Des Moines East Justice Ross is a strong 6'0 wing who combines great skills from the wing with just as strong inside moves. Quick enough to defend top guards in CIML, but can also swat away many shots in the lane. She averaged 2.06 bpg last year along with 14.3 ppg. She can hit the long ball, but can also attack the rim hard making this Minnesota commit hard to defend. When she drives the lane, she attracts attention from the defense, allowing her to setup teammates for easy buckets. She averaged 2.72 apg last year. This proves she is a triple threat attack with the 3 pointer, finish at the rim and assists. Madison Dreckman - LeMars There really isn't a concrete position for Nebraska Kearney commit Madison Dreckman. She will bring the ball up and pass like a PG, shoot the 3 like a SG and can finish inside with strong post moves. One minute she is bringing the ball up the court, then she will post down low. All these skill sets will enable her to play the small forward at the next level. Don't try to double on her because she will find her open teammates averaging an impressive 4.4 apg last year. She led her team to a semi-final finish last year averaging 17.7 ppg and 6.6 rpg. She is a definite leader on her LeMars team. With LeMars returning of 55% of scoring from last year, we could see Dreckman lead her team to Wells Fargo next March. Cailyn Morgan - Iowa City West Cailyn Morgan had a junior year to remember. Committing early to UNI before her junior season started, then a state title. Continuing to play in college and winning a state title are two dreams most young ballers dream about. To obtain them both in same year, I am sure Morgan was on cloud nine. It is easy to see why UNI showed early interest in her. She is a lanky player with a quick release. She is able to catch and shoot the defender quickly allowing her to get off shots other players might not. She can attack the hoop as well. Her defense is strong also, especially away from the ball. She gets her long arms in the passing lines. She causes chaos by tipping the ball and disrupting timing of the opponent's offense. IC West will be looking for her to add to her numbers this year to help lead them to another successful seaso Madison Fleckenstein - Dubuque Hempstead Dubuque Hempstead senior, Madison Fleckenstein, has been a main stay on varsity since her freshman year. Last year she stepped into the leadership role with the graduation of a few seniors. This year they will need her to step up more with a young group returning for Hempstead. Fleckenstein is deceptive, and plays bigger than her 5'10" frame shows. Not only is she at home attacking the basket and finishing at rim, but she is also a great defender on the inside. She combines feeling at home in the lane with a great outside game as well. Shooting a very efficient 38% from the 3 point line, she led Hempstead in scoring last year averaging 12.7 ppg. Her defense on the outside is just as effective as it is on inside. She has great foot speed allowing her to keep her opponent from attacking the lane. Great anticipation allowed her to average 1.91 spg last year. Currently uncommitted we believe with bigger numbers this season she will be getting more attention from colleges this Winter.
