Jenica Lewis îs a player that embodies what this article is all about. Coaches over the last four years HATED to see Jenica Lewis walk into the gym and onto the floor because of her ability to complete turn a game on its head. Whenever Lewis laced up you never knew how she was going to beat you but you just knew it was going to happen and she was going to be leading her team in one way or another. I’m hoping that at the next level opposing team’s continue to say that about having to face off against Lewis. She is going to have to earn her respect once she gets there but it’s definitely going to be fun to see how it all unfolds.

has been the #1 rated prospect out of the 2026 Class ever since she was in middle school and now she is going to attend ND knowing that she has cemented herself as one of the best ever in Iowa High School Basketball history. Lewis holds onto this spot while dominating throughout the past four years in every facet of the game. She finished things off this past week, bringing home another 5A State Title to Johnston. This caps off an incredible feat. Lewis helped lead Johnston at an undefeated record for the past three seasons. (That’s currently one of the longest winning streaks throughout the Country at the girls high school level.) I can’t wait to see what Lewis can do with the Irish. She has been a prime example of what an elite high school prospect looks like the past four years and this is only the beginning to her basketball journey.

was to start this Semifinal battle on Thursday morning for the Dragons. Lewis started things off by hitting a wide open three point from the Wing. From there, she let her defense do the talking with multiple steals and buckets in transition throughout the rest of the first half. In the second, it was a lot more of Lewis for the Dragons. She was one of the only prospects consistently hitting three pointers, getting to the free throw line for AND1 opportunities, and posting up looking for shots under the bucket on each possession. In the end, the Dragons pulled out the victory, 49-39. They will face the winner of Waukee NW and Dowling tomorrow night at 6PM at the Casey Center.

is built for any moment on a Basketball court that might present itself and that’s why her team high school team hasn’t lost in three years and why she is going to be competing at Norte Dame to follow this season. Lewis shows up. Plain and simple. She can shoot the leather off the ball from all distances past the three point line, she can kill her defender off the bounce, she can assist others at higher rates than most, she can rebound well for her position, and she is always willing to sacrifice her body on the floor for the good of the time in loose ball situations. If you name it, Lewis can do it on the court except maybe guarding someone at the Center position who is over 6’1. Other than that, name it. Lewis is going to have a chance to lead her Johnston team to a third straight 5A State Title, a third-straight undefeated high school season in a row in general, all while being their star. An opportunity that I’m sure she is not taking for granted before heading off to compete with the Irish.

, has been playing elite basketball all Winter long and that’s the biggest reason as to why this group has been unstoppable. It starts with her. Lewis, the ND WBB commit, is as good as they get. She is a winner, that can change the game with her next level scoring ability in the blink of an eye. She always seems to make the correct play and that’s why she will probably see the floor early on in her career for the fighting Irish once she gets on campus.

Last night’s contest proved to be a high octane battery between the best two 5A teams in the state, Johnston and Dowling Catholic. This game was decided because of mainly one prospect and that prospect was ND WBB commit –

for the Dragons. Lewis ended the contest with a game high 25 points but that’s not the highlight. The highlight is that Lewis took over in the second half, making the game her own in every facet. Offensively, she was hitting deep step back three’s all night long, she was getting to the hoop for a easy finishes on both sides, and she was hitting her open teammates in transition whenever they could push the ball. Defensively, Lewis made scrappy plays all night long causing tips, deflections, and eventually – turnovers. For all intents and purposes, last night’s game could be called “The

Game” when looking back at it. Without the play of Lewis, this would have been a bloodbath for the Maroons but instead the Dragons move their winning streak to 59 straight over 2.5 years. Pretty Incredible.

, the Norte Dame WBB commit, has started off her Senior season leading her Johnston Dragons team to an undefeated start. The Dragons are a group that has not lost the past two years so to keep things rolling is crucial. Lewis has been stepping up to do a little bit of everything this past month. She is handling her duties of scoring the ball per usual but she is also showing up in the assist, rebounds, and steals category every contest on a consistent basis. This is nothing knew but if Lewis wants to play for the Irish early in her career, she is going to need to continue to show up in all of these categories in different ways so she just needs to keep this momentum moving. She is currently locked in on her regular season at hand and that’s a good thing.

, the top prospect out of the State of Iowa for years now, has recently committed to Norte Dame for her foreseeable future following this Winter season. Lewis is a Top 25 player in the Country out of the 2026 Class for a reason. She is a born winner, who has a five-star play-style. She is PG #1 a majority of the time being a top notch distributor but don’t get it twisted, she can also score herself at a high rate from all offensive levels. Defensively, she is solid. She can stick in front of most opponents, no matter their speed or size. It will be interesting how Lewis fits into the Irish’s program over the next four years with who else they will bring in and who else they will return. The Fighting Irish has one of the top 2026 recruiting Classes that the Country has to offer so if they can put the pieces together, opponents better watch out.

is really all about this Winter. Lewis has been a winner for year’s now at the 5A level but now it’s time to see her lead the Dragons with only a little help compared to year’s past. It shouldn’t be a problem has this is one of the Nation’s best guards from the 2026 Class but it will be interesting how opposing team’s matchup vs her squad. I’d imagine that there will be a lot of double and triple teaming to get the rock out of her hands early on in possessions. If that is the case, I can’t wait to see how the Dragons return the favor strategically. If it’s anything like year’s past, they should be just fine as Lewis does her thing but we will wait and see.

îs on the only 2026 that is still uncommitted out of Iowa at this time but I’m sure her decision has to be coming soon. Lewis has been a top rated prospect nationally for years now. She is everything you want at the next level when it comes to a leader, production, and dedication to the game. She is a proven winner and always has been. There is always a lot of hate for those top dawgs out of each Class cause people are jealous and that’s the case here. If you Lewis’ track record over the past four years, it’s damn impressive in basically every category you can name. I’m not sure who scoops up Lewis in the end but if I had to guess, it’s the Hawkeye’s of Iowa. I guess we will just have to wait and see though.
