SubscribeAvon and Plainfield got off to a slow start, and stayed that way throughout the game. Both teams really struggled shooting the ball and neither team was able to do much when they had the ball. It was a tightly contested game in the first quarter, but in the second quarter Avon opened it up a bit. The halftime score was 20-11 in favor of Avon. Avon got off to a very quick start in the second half as they scored five points within a minute to force a Plainfield timeout.
Plainfield Evaluations
Ellie Wilkerson – 2022 – 5’10 CG
Coming into the game, I knew Wilkerson was going to be one of the players that I kept my eye on. Wilkerson is a guard who has good size for a freshman. Pretty good off the bounce and can mix in a few spin moves to give herself space. Good rebounder from the guard spot and can play a few different spots on the floor. Wilkerson is always in attack mode. – 14 points, 6 rebounds
Maycee Woods – 2021 – 5’9 SG
Woods is a tall off ball guard who can bring the ball up the court if she needs to. Always looking to make the right pass, Woods is a player that you can court on most of the time not to make a mistake. Woods is strong with the ball and has the ability to move well without the ball. Woods is a player who isn’t going to ‘wow’ you, but will always have a pretty solid game. – 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists
Jozee Rhodes – 2022 – 6′ SF
Rhodes is a player that really performed well in the second half. She wasn’t getting many looks in the first half but then her shot started falling. Rhodes is a very good shooter and has the ability to rattle off a few jumpers in a row. Very active off ball and moves to try and find the ball. One of the many stellar freshmen for this Plainfield team. – 11 points
Avon Evaluations
Genesis Castro – 2021 – 5’4 PG
Castro was one of the best ball handlers in this one. She showed me that she is able to take the ball with either hand. Even though she made 10 3-pointers in a game earlier this year, she doesn’t force the ball. A good talent and a future key player on the ball at Avon. Castro really knows the game. – 3 points
Haley Nichols – 2020 – 5’11 PF
Nichols is always in the right place at the right time. A big post that can play well down low, she can also stretch it out a bit. Showed a shot from the outside that I would be happy with in small does.Very good rebounder and is able to get in good position to attack the ball coming off the rim. Nichols is a player who you can rely on to score and make good decisions with the ball. Nichols has good court vision and the ability to pass the ball well. – 10 points, 9 rebounds
Brooke Shelton – 2020 – 5’4 PG
Like Castro, Shelton is a small lead guard who knows her role well. She has a little bit more of a dribble drive game and can get to the basket. Despite her size, she is able to finish at the rim pretty well. Good court vision and knows where to go with the ball. A player that needs the ball in her hands to be effective. – 4 points, 3 assists, 3 steals
Alex Richard – 2021 – 6’1 F
Richard was a beast in this one. She was rebounding the ball well and you can tell that she is just so strong with the ball. Richard is a player who has a deadly mid-range jumper and can get it off with very little space. Richard is a very good rebounder and puts herself in great spots to get the ball off the rim. Even though she shoots it well, she doesn’t force much of anything. Good length allows her to get her hands on the ball on the defensive end. – 11 points, 11 rebounds
