The 5-8 combo guard was a big reason the Pioneers posted a 20-win season. Brown averaged 14.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, and made 52 3-point shots during the season for the 20-4 Pioneers. Brown is a two-time all-conference selection and was named honorable mention all-state as a junior.
“She’s got a really versatile skill set and can do a little bit of everything for us as a guard,” EGR coach Troy Hamond said. “She can stretch the floor with her shooting ability, but is crafty and skilled enough to get to the basket and score, or find open teammates.”
Brown is a play-maker that can run the show as a point guard, but is just as good at working off the ball. Her versatility allows the Pioneers to have flexibility with what they do on offense. Olivia excels not only at the fundamentals of basketball, but in leadership as well. As a captain last year, she dedicated herself to supporting her teammates and keeping a positive attitude.
“She leads by example, but also has a lot of intangible traits that make her an outstanding leader,” Hammond said. “I think she is a calming presence for us when she’s on the floor. “Olivia is an incredibly hard worker,” Hammond said. “She invests so much time in her game, and I think she’s seen that pay dividends.”
Olivia is a high IQ player who shoots the ball well and has a great business like demeanor on the court. It is her consistency in effort and competitive zeal that positions EGR for big things this season.
