<span style="font-family: Calibri">Coach Taylor Kramer sees this as a rebuilding year for Mount Vernon. The Majors having no seniors and two </span><span style="font-weight: 400;font-family: Calibri">juniors on the roster, came into the building optimistic on what this young team will look like this season. They found out quickly as Thomas Jefferson exploded to a 18-2 late in the first quarter lead. The Majors lone field </span><span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: 12pt;font-weight: 400">coming from a floater from freshman </span><strong style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: 12pt">Isabela Lujan-Gonzalez</strong><span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: 12pt;font-weight: 400">. The score ballooned to a quarter ending 30-5 after the Majors only other field goal of the quarter another freshman </span><strong style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: 12pt">Susan Cerulli</strong><span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: 12pt;font-weight: 400">.</span>

<span style="font-size: 12pt"><span style="font-family: Calibri">Thomas Jefferson shared the ball and almost everyone got into the books in the quarter. Freshman <strong>Erin Brodnik</strong> led the way score 8 of her game high 23 points in the period while Senior <strong>Savannah Wilson</strong> (York commit) added 7 of her 12 points in the period for the Colonials. </span><span style="font-family: Calibri">Substitutes filled the floor for the Colonials and the scoring slowed down a bit. The defensive pressure continued and even with most of the starters on the bench, the Majors were scoreless in the quarter trailing 51-5 at intermission. </span></span>

After 3 quarters the Colonials led 73-11 as their coach Liz Reed rested her starters for the evening. Senior <strong>Mallory Brodnik</strong> (Erin's sister), who's heading to the University of Chicago had 14 points before calling it a night. If the Majors can take any positives going forward they tied the Colonials 13-13 in the fourth quarter which may give them some momentum going forward as they face Thomas Edison next. The Colonials next game will be Friday against McClean.
