A Tañedo Causes Major Damage In Forestville St. John’s vs McNamara

Calendars were mark for months in anticipation of the Bishop McNamara vs St. John's College game.  This game gathered both local and national attention as the #1 team in the country faced the #3 team in the country.  More importantly it was 1 vs 2 in Prep Girls Hoops DMV.  Bishop McNamara was heavily prepared for Azzi Fudd and the Cadets undoubtedly prepared to slow down Jakia Brown-Turner.  The sold out game lived up to the hype and expectations turning into an overtime thriller with SJC winning the first of two (possibly three) this one on the Mustangs home court.  There were a lot of standouts at different points of the game, this is our first five. &nbsp; <span style="text-decoration: underline"><em><span style="font-size: 14pt"><strong>Five Standout Players (Part One)</strong></span></em></span> &nbsp; <span style="text-decoration: underline"><strong>Caramina Tañedo</strong></span> [caption id="attachment_25045" align="alignnone" width="150"] Caramina Tañedo[/caption] Caramina hit three 3-pointers and each one was a big shot a couple leading to a lead change.  She ended the game with a double-double 13 points and 11 boards.  At times during the game she was the best player on the floor and a threat each time she touched the ball no matter how deep she was.  She also did well attacking the basket and getting to the line. &nbsp; <span style="text-decoration: underline"><strong>Malu Tshitenge-Mutumbo</strong></span> [caption id="attachment_25047" align="alignnone" width="150"] Malu Tshitenge-Mutumbo[/caption] Malu was the anchor inside for the Cadets and held her own despite facing opposition from multiple six foot plus defenders.  The UNC commit showed well in front of her future coach scoring 20 points and a game high 19 rebounds.  None of which bigger than when she was surrounded by a trio Mustang six footers all going after a missed shot and she not only emerged with the ball but, went back up for the put back and foul to break the tie late in the game. &nbsp; <span style="text-decoration: underline"><strong>Hope Evans</strong></span> [caption id="attachment_25048" align="alignnone" width="150"] Hope Evans[/caption] Hope was a game changer on the defensive end and was a big reason why the Mustangs were even in the game.  Hope had a game high 15 steals getting three straight to help them bounce back from a 9 point second half deficit.  She gave the Cadet guards fits trying to get the ball past half court, she also added 6 assists. &nbsp; <span style="text-decoration: underline"><strong>Aliyah Matharu</strong></span> [caption id="attachment_25049" align="alignnone" width="150"] Aliyah Matharu[/caption] Aliyah was ready for prime time scoring a game high 29 points.  She ripped through the Cadets defense repeatedly getting to the basket and finishing.  She showed her range knocking down a couple of three pointers and was crafty at drawing contact and getting to the line where she was 7-8 on free throws. &nbsp; <span style="text-decoration: underline"><strong>Alex Cowan</strong></span> [caption id="attachment_25051" align="alignnone" width="150"] Alex Cowan[/caption] Cowen set the stage for the night knocking down a three to start the game as the Cadets went off to a 7-0 run off the tap forcing a Mustangs timeout.  Cowan's biggest impact was on the defensive end where she took a crack at guarding each player on the Mustangs roster at some point in the game.
