A 5’6 guard, Dewey brings a well-rounded skill set to the floor, willing to play both ends as an impact defender, and is a shooter, rebounder, creator and scorer. She brings quickness, intensity and a big motor to the floor as well.
Dewey is putting together a huge season, averaging 28.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 4.4 steals and a block per game for a Plainville squad that is now 11-9 as they gear up for Class 2A substate regionals.
“We are inexperienced but work hard. We are just wrapping up the regular season and are focusing on substate,” Dewey says.
She spent last offseason competing for Wheat State Elite and traveled around the Midwest playing against top level competition, testing her game.
“Wheat State is by far the best summer program I’ve been apart of,” Dewey said. “They have a family type atmosphere in their program. They have been and will continue to be a big part of my growth as a player. I feel like summer ball let’s me become a more complete player and it allows me to work on the part of my game that is the weakest. I carry over as much as I can from summer season to school season.”
Dewey says her dad has had the biggest impact on her basketball career to date.
“He was my first basketball coach and still continues to work with me everyday,” she says.
Dewey says she enjoys watching basketball at all levels, whether it’s her peers at the high school level, or college and professional ranks.
“I enjoy watching all levels of basketball, from kids to professional,” Dewey said. “As I watch college and professional I watch closely and try to find new moves I can try.”
Dewey does not yet hold any offers, but has heard from several programs, including schools at the NCAA Division II level.
“I look forward to the process as my summer team schedule starts and of course entering my senior season,” she says.
