A 5’11 point guard, Hackerott is a standout shooter who can play a physical brand of basketball, loves to crash the boards and can also shoot from the perimeter or take the ball to the basket where she has proven to be a strong finisher.
A coaches kid, Hackerott brings a high basketball IQ to the floor and is willing and able to do the little things like talk on defense or set solid screens that help a team win.
Off to a 17-1 start this season, Hackerott is averaging 16 points, 9 rebounds, three assists and three steals per game while helping lead the xx to a 16-1 record this season.
“My high school team is currently having a great season … and it’s definitely been the most fun season of my high school career,” Hackerott says. “Our team chemistry is so high and we all love playing with and for each other.”
Hack says the biggest influence in her basketball career to date has been her dad, Kevin Hackerott, who has coached her throughout her high school basketball career and during the summer as well.
“He’s taught me so much about the game and really helped me grow as a player,” Hackerott says. “I wouldn’t be where i am today without his knowledge and help. he’s given so much time and energy into making me a great player that I really just want to keep working for him and for myself to see the goals we’ve set come true.”
A college basketball fan, Hackerott says she enjoys watching the next level she is going to be someday playing.
“It’s good to see things and learn,” she says. “I try and watch the guards and how they play with the ball in their hands and off the ball. watch the smart players and learn how to react to different situations. Watch how different moves can be used at different times and the best times to use them.”
Hackerott is playing for Wheat State Elite this coming summer and says she is excited for the opportunity to showcase her skills. She says her previous experience in summer ball has helped prepare her for high school basketball and beyond.
“Past summers have really taught be a lot about leadership and how to become more of an offensive threat while still doing the little things,” Hackerott says. “It taught me to stay composed and poised throughout the whole game.”
Hackerott says she has drawn several offers from both NCAA Division I and Division II programs.
