Tournament Preview: Class 5A, Region 6

<span style="font-family: Lato, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;font-size: 16px">With the 5A tournament set to get underway on Wednesday, February 13th, we are going to be breaking down each region with in depth analysis. We will cover who you should watch for, the teams that could come out of nowhere, and of course, the bracket buster candidate. We will also list five players from each class that you need to keep an eye on throughout the bracket as they can really change the game in a hurry. The complete Region 6 bracket is posted below.</span> <hr /> <span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-size: 14pt"><strong>The</strong></span></span><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-size: 14pt"> Teams</span></span> </strong>Cedar Falls (18-1) Ottumwa (14-5) Dowling Catholic (14-7) Hempstead (8-12) Des Moines Hoover (4-18) <span style="text-decoration: underline;font-size: 14pt"><strong>The</strong> <strong>Favorite</strong></span> <strong>Cedar Falls</strong> Sitting at 18-1 on the season, Cedar Falls is probably the favorite going in but there really isn't such a clear cut favorite. Both of the teams below are chomping at the bit to take them down. They are shooting the ball at a 41.5 percent clip from the floor. This is a team that protects the rim really well and doesn't turn the ball over. Junior <strong>Emerson Green</strong> leads the team with 18.3 points a game. <span style="text-decoration: underline;font-size: 14pt"><strong>The Sleeper</strong></span> <strong>Dowling Catholic</strong> Dowling Catholic is a team that has the potential to upset anyone in the state as they score 64.4 points a game and have hit 151 3-pointers. Their downfall might be the amount of turnovers they have as they have turned it over 275 times this year. They do have the best player in the state, so anything an happen with this team. <strong>Caitlin Clark</strong>, a junior, leads the state in scoring with 32.3 points a game. <span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-size: 14pt"><strong>The Outside Shot</strong></span></span><strong> </strong><strong>Ottumwa</strong> Ottumwa has only lost five games this season and are scoring 56.8 points a game. They are shooting 40.4 percent from the floor and 30.2 percent from behind the arc. They have only made 85 3-pointers on the year, so if they get into a shootout with Dowling Catholic or Cedar Falls I am not sure they will be able to hang with them.
