An all-around guard with good size at 5’10, Warden averaged 6.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, shit 56 percent from the field and 81 percent from the free throw line this past season and says she takes pride in doing whatever is best for her team.
“I am a strong rebounder, I strive to get my teammates open looks off of screens, post touches, or kick outs,” Warden says. “I can post up, drive, or shoot all the way out to the 3. I have to play a lot of post defense because of my strength even though I may be smaller in some cases.”
Warren helped Liberal make history this season as the program recorded its first 20-0 season in school history. Liberal was 22-0 heading into the Class 6A state tournament and finished its season 22-1 overall.
“I feel I really stepped up in my role this season,” she says. “I do a lot to get my teammates shots but I am there to score when my team needs it.”
Warren continues to work on improving her ball handling skills and outside shooting consistency this offseason as she hopes to become an all-around threat to score.
She says coach Carter Kruger has had the biggest influence on her basketball career to date.
“He has spent a lot of time in the gym with not just me but our whole team to improve our individual skills,” Warren says. “He has discussed my goals with me for the future and motivates me every day to become the player I want to be.”
A fan of WNBA star Maya Moore, Warren says she appreciates the skills of the bigger guard.
“She is a strong driver, can make shots inside, and shoots all the way out to the 3,” Warren says. “Some things I’ve learned and implemented into my game from watching her would be driving strong through traffic and finishing.”
